According to Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, the Steelers have signed former Cardinals CB William Gay. The Steelers today signed cornerback William Gay to a contract, the player’s agent confirmed. Gay was released by Arizona — Ed Bouchette (@EdBouchette) March 4, 2013 Gay, 28, signed with the Cardinals last season, but it obviously didn’t work out the way they hoped it would. According to Pro Football Focus, Gay graded out as the No. 209 out of 217 qualifying cornerbacks. The Steelers could use some additional depth in their secondary and Gay was an above average option for Pittsburgh last season, so the move does make sense from their end. Steelers WR Mike Wallace Sitting Pretty Monday Evening After Recent Moves

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Mike Wallace has to be feeling pretty good Monday evening thanks to some of the things that transpired around the NFL since Friday. For starters, the Steelers were unable to place the franchise tag on Wallace, as expected, and now he is assured to hit the free agent market next Tuesday evening. In addition to that, the Kansas City Chiefs have reportedly...

Grading the Pittsburgh Steelers’ Round-by-Round Value in the 2011 NFL Draft

The Pittsburgh Steelers will need some help from their 2011 NFL Draft class if they want to avoid a second straight season that ends in December. It will be a few years before the value grade for this draft is set in stone. Six of the seven players chosen are still with the Steelers. If some of these players tap their upside, this draft could help the Steelers regain their status...

2013 Steelers Mock Draft Version 2.0 – Post NFL Combine

The 2013 NFL combine is now behind us and the pro days have already started to take place. It is now time for my second 2013 Pittsburgh Steelers mock draft, or as I like to call them, educated guesses. I usually do about 5 or 6 mocks prior to the actual NFL draft and you can find my first mock draft that was released after the Senior Bowl by following the link. I have already posted...

Here’s the Pittsburgh Steelers Biggest Issue from the 2012 Season

The Pittsburgh Steelers finished the 2012 season with an unimpressive 8-8 record. For the Steelers that’s an uncharacteristically bad season based on recent performances. It’s tied for their worst record since 2003 and has sparked plenty of talk about what went wrong with the 2012 Steelers. Just the other day I wrote about what the Steelers need to do to fix their run game because...

One Week Left Before The Start Of The 2013 League Year

There is just one week to go now before the start of the 2013 league year. The Pittsburgh Steelers are already under the $123 million cap number with a current Rule of 51 number of roughly $121,065,372.66 after the signing of cornerback William Gay on Monday. That number includes the $1.4 million cap credit that they are also reportedly due. As you can see, that number is just...

2012 Grades, Position by Position, Defensive Secondary

In the recent past, the secondary was the weak link of the Steelers’ defense. It was widely known that while teams may not have been able to run the ball on Pittsburgh, you could have success throwing it. That has changed in more recent years, and 2012 was no exception. The Steelers led the NFL in yards allowed passing, and were 7th in the league in opposing completion percentage...
