The Anaheim Ducks made waves yesterday by dealing away fan-favorite and prolific 30-goal scorer, Bobby Ryan, to the Ottawa Senators for two prospects and a pick. At first the deal was shocking. Who they heck saw the Sens coming in to snatch Ryan? Not this guy. But, when you dig deeper the deal works out great for both sides. Ottawa was reeling from the loss of long-time hero and captain Daniel...

It took a little longer than the St. Louis Blues and their fans wanted, but it appears the search for a scoring line center is over for now. Derek Roy has agreed in principal to a reported one year contract worth $4 million. All will made official pending a physical exam. A 30 year old Ottawa native, Roy has spent 9 seasons in the NHL amassing 168 goals and 455 points in 591...

Ducks trade winger Bobby Ryan to Ottawa Senators

It was always assumed that Ducks winger Bobby Ryan would eventually join the Philadelphia Flyers. That day was not Friday. After years of trade rumors, Ryan, who grew up in suburban Philadelphia, was finally dealt by Anaheim in exchange for two players and a future draft pick -- except his destination is Ottawa, not Philly. The Ducks acquired right wing Jakob Silfverberg and prospect...

As  per Darren Dreger of TSN and Pierre LeBrun of ESPN, the Ducks will receive...

Koivu and Beleskey Re-signed

Although the only major move that the Ducks have made in free agency is to trade Bobby Ryan to Ottawa, Anaheim is still getting their offseason work done.  First, the Ducks have signed center Saku Koivu to a one year contract extension, worth $2.5 million plus performance bonuses. Koivu, 38, has spent the past four years with the Ducks and last year he scored 8 goals and...

Senators acquire Bobby Ryan in deal with Ducks

The Ottawa Senators wasted little time to fill the loss of captain Daniel Alfredsson by acquiring forward Bobby Ryan in a trade with Anaheim on Friday. In exchange for landing the four-time 30-goal scorer, the Senators dealt forwards Jakob Silfverbeg, Stefan Noesen and their first-round pick in next year's draft to Anaheim. The deal was completed hours into the start of the...

So Long, Bobby Ryan.

Anaheim Ducks' winger Bobby Ryan was dealt to the Ottawa Senators on Friday for Jakob Silfverberg, Stefan Noesen, and a 2014 1st-round pick. Bobby was my second favorite Duck and second favorite hockey player behind Ryan Getzlaf, and I'm sad to see him go.Though I wish Bobby was still skating in Anaheim, at least the Ducks got a really nice package back from the Sens. Best of luck, Bobby.

Sens Sign Bobby Ryan

The Sens have acquired RW Bobby Ryan from the Anaheim Mighty Ducks for a 2014 1st round draft pick, Jakob Silfverberg and 2011 1st round pick Stefan Noesen. This move provides the Sens with an immediate upgrade as Ryan will replace Silfverberg without losing any other players on the roster. Bobby Ryan has averaged about 33 goals and 31 assists per 82 games since the 2008-09 season...

Sens land Bobby Ryan; Silfverbeg, Noesen, pick to Anaheim by   Bradshaw Furlong

Now there’s a Daniel Alfredsson replacement. Earlier in the day, the Ottawa Senators learned that their long-time captain, Daniel Alfredsson, had signed with the Detroit Red Wings. They then signed winger Clarke MacArthur to “replace” Alfredsson. Well, now we know who the real replacement is as the Ottawa Senators make another splash, this time via trade, as they acquire [...]

Morning Line

The Senators didn’t lack appreciation for Alfredsson. Go to ottawasenators.com and the first thing you see is a “Thank you” page, very classy considering the circumstances. But, it shows how careful you have to be. For just one moment, they slipped. It will never be the same. After the Bobby Ryan trade, you can debate if the Senators or the Red Wings are the truer contender...
