WVU RB Steve Slaton sure hit the proverbial sophomore slump in 2009. After posting a rookie year 1,282 yards and 50 receptions, Slaton appeared poised to take his game to the next level in 2009.
I thought I had a steal in my fantasy draft when I got him late in the 2nd round. Oh how wrong I was. Slaton didn’t crack 500 yards on the ground last season and laid the ball on the ground on a regular basis. After week 12, Slaton never returned and head coach Gary Kubiack inserted a combination of RB’s Ryan Moats and Adrian Foster to try to produce a consistent running game.
The Texans are a team I think are poised to break into the playoffs in 2010, and a consistent running attack is going to be needed. Whether or not Steve Slaton can return will be the determining factor to see if he’s a one hit wonder, or a long term player who simply had a bad year.
