Tampa Bay Lightning forward Steven Stamkos, Edmonton Oilers forward Jordan Eberle and TSN analyst Bob McKenzie all star in this hysterical new Coke Zero Canada ad.  In the advertisement, Stamkos is traded for Eberle by his own father (who is his coach) and then proceeds to score five goals in the first game against his old team.  Definitely one of the better ads centered around hockey in a long time. WATCH: Lightning fire puck into own net for embarrassing own goal

You'll see a handful of own goals scored during the course of an NHL season. Few will rival the one scored by the Tampa Bay Lightning on Thursday night.  Protecting a 5-4 lead with roughly 1:50 left in the third period, Matt Carle threw the puck back into his own zone. The pass to Radko Gudas was too hot to handle and it kicked off of the defenseman's skate and past goaltender...

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) -- Martin St. Louis scored 1:16 of overtime and the Tampa Bay Lightning beat the Chicago Blackhawks 6-5 on Thursday night. St. Louis got the game-winner from in-close. The Tampa Bay captain also had an assist and moved past Neal Broten (923) for 93rd place on the career points list with 924. St. Louis, Bolts top Blackhawks in OT

Wild wacky crazy and zany. The Tampa Bay Lightning found a way to overcome all of it Thursday night when Marty St. Louis scored 1:16 into overtime to give Tampa Bay a 6-5 victory against defending Stanley Cup champion Chicago in front of an announced crowd of 18820 at The Forum. “It was like little mini games” Lightning coach Jon Cooper said. “It was just mountains of setbacks...

St. Louis scores in OT; Lightning beat Hawks

Radko Gudas was able to joke after being center stage in what both coaches called a crazy ending. The Tampa Bay defenseman had a puck go off him late in the third and then assisted on Martin St. Louis' goal 1:16 into overtime as the Lightning beat the Chicago Blackhawks 6-5 on Thursday night. Chicago's Jonathan Toews was credited with a game-tying goal with 1:49 left in...

Tampa Bay Lightning give up horrible own-goal late in 3rd period

The Tampa Bay Lightning were looking to close out a win against the Chicago Blackhawks when a pass went horribly wrong.  Lightning forward Radko Gudas fired a pass to Matt Carle who was positioned in the defensive zone, the pass was too hot for Carle to handle and he tipped it right past goalie Ben Bishop.  The goal was credited to Jonathan Toews, even though he didn’t do much...

Alright, alright fine…THIS is the most embarrassing goal of the NHL season

Just moments after the Tampa Bay Lightning scored the go-ahead goal late in the third period of last night’s game against the Blackhawks, Bolts defenseman Matt Carle inexplicably fired a pass backwards towards unsuspecting teammate Radko Gudas. Carle’s pass ricocheted off Gudas’ skate, through the legs of Tampa goaltender Ben Bishop and into the net for the equalizer with less...

Teenagers make early impact in NHL season

Tampa Bay Lightning general manager Steve Yzerman didn’t project a regular role for elite prospect Jonathan Drouin, so he sent the 18-year-old winger back to junior hockey. That move surprised many NHL observers.“Mostly, we want him playing,” Yzerman told the Tampa Tribune at the time. “And if he's not going to play regular (in the NHL), I want him playing. I don'...

Lightning’s Matt Carle, Radko Gudas Combine for Game-Tying Own Goal in Final Minutes of Third Period (Video)

This will go down as one of the easiest goals of Patrick Toews‘ career. The Blackhawks captain was credited with the game-tying goal with less than two minutes remaining in Thursday night’s meeting with Tampa Bay, but he had nothing to do with the puck going in the net. Instead it was Lightning defensemen Matt Carle and Radko Gudas who combined to thread the puck past Ben Bishop...

Video- Basically A Tampa Bay Own Goal Late In The Game

This goal, credited to Johathan Toews, tied the game just after Stamkos scored for Tampa on the power play. But justice was served, as Martin St. Louis scored in OT to give the Bolts a 6-5 win. Here is the 'Toews' goal...   added 10:30pm, Below is the OT goal by St. Louis.... Continue reading "Video- Basically A Tampa Bay Own Goal Late In The Game"

Michael Stuart: The Roundtable on Early Season Impressions

The Tampa Bay Lightning has asked me to be a part of the organization’s Blogger Roundtable. This new feature, which has a number of independent writers weigh in on issues surrounding the team, will be a weekly column on the team’s website. Today's question has to do with early season impressions. Many of the Lightning’s players have played well through the...

Oilers lose Ryan Smyth, Eberle questionable for Tuesday's game

Ebs is questionable and Flow is out for Tuesday in Montreal. The Oilers won’t say what’s ailing Jordan Eberle and Ryan Smyth but Eberle missed practice Monday for the second day in a row while Smyth and his trademark hair are already back in Edmonton. Dallas Eskins who was already down Taylor Hall Sam Gagner and Jesse Joensuu up front can only cross his fingers that Eberle...
