It’s back to Triple-A for Steven Wright. The Red Sox announced that Wright, who dazzled in relief on Thursday, was optioned to Triple-A Pawtucket to make room for the newly acquired Matt Thornton. Wright pitched 5 2/3 scoreless innings out of the bullpen against the Mariners on Thursday, but the Red Sox acquired Thornton in a trade with the White Sox on Friday. Boston sent minor league outfielder Brandon Jacobs to Chicago in exchange for Thornton and cash. There’s a chance that Wright could return to the Red Sox after the All-Star break, as manager John Farrell didn’t rule out the knuckleballer making a big league start. For now, though, he’ll rejoin Pawtucket, where he’s in the midst of a 17 2/3-inning scoreless streak. Thornton joined the Red Sox in Oakland on Saturday. Have a question for Ricky Doyle?
