Tim Tebow and the Denver Broncos may be out of the playoffs, but Tebow mania rolls on, this time right here in the Valley. After Scottsdale Desert Mountain beat Scottsdale Chaparral in an intracityboys basketball game Tuesday night, Desert Mountain students rushed the court to partake in a mass "Tebowing." The move, inspired by Tebow's routine of kneeling to pray on the sideline during games, has been a wildly popular gimmick during Tebow's unlikely rise to prominence. It's clear there was no disrespect involved in the incident (which first caught Yahoo! Sports' attention) by students or athletes, and really it was little more than bunch of high school students getting creative and having a good time. Have to at least tip your hat to them for being so organized. But the greater significance of the mass "Tebowing" is this: Like him or not, Tebow has struck a chord across every part of this country. He's sparked debate after debate regarding his ability, open religious enthusiasm and more. It's hard to deny the guy has become a polarizing figure, though that's not of his own doing. So many sports fans are obsessed with all things Tebow, and "Tebowing" has only fueled the fire. That fire is apparently burning here in Arizona now. Time will tell if Tebow can have sustained success as a pro, and such is the case with "Tebowing." But for now, Tebow mania just won't go away.
