This article is the work of guest blogger Felipe Diaz, a fine and enthusiastic young man from the great state of Wisconsin who is currently a junior at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee studying Film Production and Marketing. A young man in the community of Pari-Chachoeira, Brazil is very, very lucky to be alive. The 15-year-old was accidentally stabbed in the face with a harpoon designed to impale fish while on a fishing trip by his brother. Apparently, the brother mistook the young man for a fish, and planted the over two-foot-long harpoon right into his brothers cheek, just left of his nose. In an act that makes Chuck Norris look like a teletubbie , the young man who suffered the harpooning embarked on a two day long journey, canoeing over 195 miles of the worlds second longest river to reach a hospital where the harpoon was finally removed. As if having a giant piece of wood hanging out of your face isn’t enough, the Amazon river basin is known to be home to jaguars, giant anacondas, piranhas and crocodiles. Somehow the young man survived the trip and he is reportedly recovering well from a successful harpoon removal surgery.
