Originally written December 13, 2012 on Down and Distance:
Over the last few days a story has been spread like wildfire of former NFL Receiver Terrell Owens begging for a contract from the Los Angeles Clippers this summer. The report came from Clippers forward Blake Griffin when he appeared on the Dan Patrick Show and said that Terrell was begging Clippers coaches for a ten day contract. But Owens has since denied that claim, and his publicist released a statement regarding the report, via BlackSportsOnline. Blake and Terrell are friends. The quote pulled from “The Dan Patrick Show” was taken completely out of context and subsequently made a great headline but is untrue. Terrell never begged to become a Clipper. He is a huge fan of the Clippers and of Blake’s. And as everyone knows, he can play a serious game of ball. When Blake was asked if there were any football players that he thought could play in the NBA, he named Terrell Owens and Calvin Johnson. It is not surprising that Terrell was at their practice facility this summer. One of his best friend’s, Jason Powell, is the head trainer for the Clippers. Diana Bianchini, publicist for Terrell Owens I don’t think that called for a statement to be released, but take it as you will. Griffin says it happened, Owens says it didn’t. The post Terrell Owens denies begging for Clippers Contract appeared first on DOWN & DISTANCE.
