NFL Injury Report:
It seems like most of the news that’s come out since safety
Ed Reed signed with the Houston Texans has been bad. However, yesterday’s
report was certainly positive. Ian Rapoport of NFL.com reports that the Texans
plan on taking Reed off the physically unable to perform list and have him
practice the opening week of the regular season.
#Texans plan to take S Ed Reed (hip) off the PUP list & have him practice opening week. Hoping to have a decision on Week 1 early next week
— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) August 30, 2013
Rapoport adds that Houston hopes to have a decision on Reed’s
status for Week 1 early next week.
Just because Reed is being activated to Houston’s 53-man
roster doesn’t mean he’s guaranteed to play Week 1. What it would mean is that
the Reed will not have to wait until Week 7 to be activated from the PUP list,
which would be the case if he remains on it into the regular season.
When the Texans signed Reed as a free agent from the
Baltimore Ravens this offseason, the team hoped he would sure-up their
secondary and add another veteran presence to their defense. His lingering hip
ailment has clouded his availability, but the team should know more of his status
soon. Head coach Greg Kubiak told reporters that Houston is expecting a quick
decision “Monday or Tuesday.”
"We're hoping to do some field drills Monday and
Tuesday with our extra days with him, with (head athletic trainer Geoff
Kaplan)," Kubiak said. "We'll probably make a quick decision early in
the week, Monday or Tuesday, on his availability for San Diego. We're sitting
here hoping and we'll see how that goes."

A few weeks back, the Houston Texans cheerleaders were kind enough to give us a follow on Twitter, so we feel it's only fair to return the favor by passing along their latest edition of Freestyle Fridays.
In their latest video, the Texans cheerleaders celebrate the end of summer at a pool. And, as is customary during summer pool parties, they are wearing bikinis. Pitbull...

Texans coach Gary Kubiak indicated that he won't ride Arian Foster in Week 1. "Obviously I don't think Arian's going to be a 30-carry guy on opening night," Kubiak said. SOURCE: Tania Ganguli, ESPN.com.Fantasy Spin:The fact that Kubiak even said 30 should tell you just how much he still plans to use Foster when he thinks the running back is 100 percent. We won...

The Houston Texans’ 2013 preseason is finished and they defeated the Dallas Cowboys 24-6. The big stories were the return of DeVier Posey and all of the young players fighting for their NFL futures. Some will be with the Texans and others could be headed to another NFL team.

HOUSTON (AP) -- Houston coach Gary Kubiak isn't ready to say who will back up quarterback Matt Schaub after T.J. Yates and Case Keenum both performed well this preseason.
Kubiak expects to make a decision on the spot by Thursday, which means he'll probably keep both quarterbacks on the roster.
The Texans have to trim their roster to 53 by Saturday afternoon.
It is that time of year where the Houston Texans have to make some tough decisions regarding personnel for the 53-man roster. The Texans’ scouting staff have put together a solid rookie class but the UDFA class will be the talk of the early part of the 2013 season.
There are confirmed reports that the Texans will be keeping FOUR undrafted rookies heading into week one of the...
The Houston Texans look set at backup quarterback no matter who they pick, and the Dallas Cowboys have problems with depth on defense.
Those were among the conclusions to be drawn from the Texans' 24-6 victory Thursday night in a preseason finale that was missing all but maybe one starter.

One by one, they do their best dives.
On my last stop in the AFC, I am making my predictions for the AFC South. Two years ago, this was a runaway division for the Houston Texans. Not so much any more. QB Andrew Luck and the Indianapolis Colts brought a resurgent nemesis to the Texans last season. I give the nod to the Texans as having what I consider to be the best defense in the AFC but the offense is in question. RB...
