The players seem to be finally getting the schemes and they are buying into the system. They no longer seem to be reacting to what's happening, but now they are understanding their responsibilities. They are starting to force their will on the other team. The defensive line is finding the fine line between occupying space and creating pressure themselves. The linebackers suddenly seem deep and now we have players who can come in and contribute. The secondary is by far better this season from last season. Despite all of the injuries and fluctuations, the team is still doing a solid job of keeping teams out of the end zone. Trent Cole got his first multi-sack game in what seems like years now. Usually Trent starts strong and fades as the season progresses, but now he seems to be coming on. It's as if the transition to linebacker has helped preserve him. Brandon Boykin just seems to be emerging as a legit playmaker for this team. He's been making plays on defense and special teams all season. Ryans was supposedly unable to play in this defense, but so far he's had his best season as an Eagle. Bennie Logan has consistently gotten pressure since he's been inserted in the starting lineup. He's been a pleasant surprise for the team and what made the team trade Issac away. Guys are once again flying to the football and we are starting to see gang tackles and hits in the backfield. Ironically two of the Eagles biggest question marks coming into the season were the QB and the defense. By the end of the season both could be considered the teams biggest strengths.
