This Given Sunday:
The Browns’ decision to start backup quarterback Brian Hoyer over injured starter Brandon Weeden makes perfect sense to anyone that’s observed the Browns over the past couple of seasons. So far in 2013, Weeden has been pretty poor, throwing for three interceptions and only one touchdown.
In a young man’s sport, it’s strange that the Browns’ second year quarterback is also older than the team’s fifth year backup quarterback. Hoyer is the younger quarterback by two years (almost exactly), and he has more experience in the NFL, although he’s only played in a total of 15 games.
It’s not known at this point whether Brandon Weeden could play this weekend or not, but I’m guessing he could if he had to. The fact that he hasn’t been publicly declared unable to play yet has still been pulled from the starting lineup seems to indicate the Browns are starting to look in different directions, and frankly, who can blame them?

Brandon Weeden, the 29 year-old sophomore quarterback, will not start this Sunday against he Vikings due to a thumb injury.
Furthermore, it looks like Weeden will not be guaranteed to be the starter once he is fully healthy.
Browns head coach Rob Chudzinski had this to say:
“I don’t really see it as that. We’ll see how things are going, how Brandon is doing from a health...
One down, one to go. The Browns will probably cut quarterback Brandon Weeden next. They are cleaning house in Cleveland, they are removing the mistakes the last regime made in the 2012 draft. No team in their right mind would have drafted Brandon Weeden in the first round of a NFL draft. People are thinking the Browns are throwing the towel in on the 2013 season with the Richardson...
Browns quarterback Brandon Weeden will probably not need surgery on his sprained right thumb and could return sooner than expected.
Coach Rob Chudzinski said after practice on Friday that it's ''highly unlikely'' that the second-year QB will need surgery. Weeden was injured in Sunday's loss at Baltimore. On Thursday, he visited a hand specialist, who confirmed...
Browns QB Brandon Weeden is expected to miss Sunday’s game against the Vikings because of a sprained thumb. But the Browns are getting their exciting young receiver, Josh Gordon, back.
It was announced on Wednesday that third-string quarterback Brian Hoyer would get the start in the battle of 0-2 teams on Sunday when the Cleveland Browns take on the Minnesota Vikings. Hoyer is stepping in for Brandon Weeden, who has an injured thumb, and above second-string quarterback Jason Campbell, who was treated like a signal-calling […]The post Cleveland Browns fan has...
Browns coach Rob Chudzinski isn’t ready to commit to Jason Campbell or Brian Hoyer as the team’s starting quarterback for Week 3 even though Brandon Weeden will likely be sidelined Sunday with a sprained right thumb against the host Minnesota Vikings.
Weeden underwent an MRI on his thumb Monday after suffering the injury Sunday in the fourth quarter of the Browns’ 14-6 loss...
BEREA, Ohio — Browns third-string quarterback Brian Hoyer will start Sunday against Minnesota in place of Brandon Weeden, who sprained his right thumb last week. Cleveland surprisingly decided to go with Hoyer over more experienced backup Jason Campbell.
Campbell came in for one series in the fourth quarter against Baltimore after Weeden injured his thumb when he banged it on a...
Brian Hoyer, starting NFL Cleveland Browns quarterback. Trent Richardson, Indianapolis Colts running back. Say what you like about tanking a season to try and draft a franchise QB. At least it’s an ethos. This team wasn’t going anywhere with Brandon Weeden, anyway.
And even apart from Mike Lombardi’s impeccable track record, no one has a clearer direction than Joe Banner, nor...
The Cleveland Browns will start Brian Hoyer at quarterback in Week 3. Browns starter Brandon Weeden suffered a sprained right thumb in the teams Week 2 loss at Baltimore.
Browns head coach Rod Chudzinski declined to name Jason Campbell, who was 1-for-4 for six yards, the teams starter on Monday.
Enter Brian Hoyer who joined the team as the third string quarterback in the offseason...
These thoughts have been going through my tortured mind since the end of week 1, when the Browns looked like a Division I-AA team, losing at home yet again on Opening Day, this time to the Dolphins.
Well done, Brokaw. That was fast.
Week two had my hopes still a bit inflated, as I was thinking that Weeden's flashes he shows, albeit all too rarely, were going to...

Vikings vs Browns
Brian Hoyer headed to Minnesota for their hope opener. Oh, and some guy on the Browns was traded today. Do it, do it.
Broncos vs Raiders
The Raiders are going to get crushed this week. Peyton will score at will and put all the pressure on Pryor to throw. Mistakes ensue.

Browns third-string quarterback Brian Hoyer will start Sunday against Minnesota in place of Brandon Weeden, who sprained his right thumb last week. Cleveland surprisingly decided to go with Hoyer over more experienced backup Jason Campbell. This is a very surprise move by the Browns, but I honestly feel that Hoyer is a better quarterback than […]
The Cleveland Browns have made it pretty clear this week that they are building for the future and, for lack of a better term, tanking this season. The 0-2 squad made two moves on Wednesday that seem to indicate they are trying to position themselves to land the top overall pick in the 2014 NFL […]
Brian Hoyer gets the start at quarterback. He is the 19th quarterback to start for the Cleveland Browns since 1999. We all know how the last 18 have performed
So, here's your Cleveland Browns news!
The new regime under Michael Lombardi just made a rare blockbuster move, trading last year's first round pick Trent Richardson to the Indianapolis Colts for a 2014 first rounder, according to SI.
Richardson has struggled with injuries in his young career, but has at times shown why he was drafted so high. This makes the Indianapolis...
