Tradition is the single biggest reason college football has gained so much popularity today. Every school has customs that make attending a football game a unique and enjoyable experience. For college football die-hard fans, there are several rituals that you must experience. Because I am one of those die-hard fans who wants to visit each and every major college football stadium in the country, I have comprised the ultimate bucket list for college football fans. If you eat, sleep, and live college football, here are 40 things you must experience before your final whistle: Belt out the words to “Rocky Top” inside Tennessee’s Neyland Stadium. Witness Steve Spurrier chuck his visor to the turf in person. Dress in your Sunday best and enjoy a game day tailgate party in The Grove at Ole Miss. Get a snapshot standing next to Paul “Bear” Bryant’s statue at Alabama. Attend two Michigan/Ohio State games, one in the Horseshoe, the other in the Big House. Spend New Year’s Day in Pasadena for the Rose Bowl. Give your date a kiss after Texas A&M scores a touchdown at Kyle Field. Take a trip to the College Football Hall of Fame in South Bend. Become part of the nation’s loudest crowd during a night game inside LSU’s “Death Valley.” “Jump Around” after the third quarter at Wisconsin’s Camp Randall Stadium. Set foot on the blue turf of Boise State. Yell “Wooo, Pig! Sooie,” to welcome the Arkansas Razorbacks to the field. Sing “Country Roads Take me Home,” after a West Virginia victory. Enjoy a few beverages at the World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party. Witness the dotting of the “I” by Ohio State’s marching band. Experience the Army/Navy game on a brisk December afternoon. Put on a costume and hit the bars at 6:00 a.m. to become a member of Purdue’s “breakfast club.” Give your arm a workout by making the tomahawk motion during Florida State’s War Chant. Participate in a Penn State “white out” in Happy Valley. Bring your binoculars and grab a seat on Tightwad Hill to watch the Cal Bears…no ticket needed! Take a picture with the USC Song Girls on the turf of the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. Purchase a ticket for a seat near Howard’s Rock at Clemson and get an unbelievable view of “the most exciting 25 seconds in college football.” Decide which marching band performs best during the “Battle of the Bands” halftime show during the Prairie View A&M/Grambling State game. Applaud the opposing team at the conclusion of a Nebraska home game. Swing by The Varsity restaurant in Atlanta after a Georgia Tech win. Take a picture of Touchdown Jesus. Start a stadium chant at Illinois’ Memorial Stadium by yelling “I-L-L!” Travel up to Rutgers and see where it all began at the birthplace of college football. Sing along to the tune “Dixie” after an Ole Miss game. Observe the hostility between the nation’s two most prestigious academic schools at a Harvard/Yale game. Stand through the two-hour live show of ESPN’s College Gameday to watch Lee Corso put on a mascot’s headgear. Get your picture taken beside Johnny U. at the University of Louisville. Introduce yourself to Hawaiian culture as you watch the Warriors do the Hawaii Haka before kickoff. Attempt to make that ridiculous gobbling noise in Blacksburg after the Virginia Tech Hokies score a touchdown. Can’t make it to the San Diego zoo? That’s OK, take a trip to the Autzen Zoo at Oregon, instead. Yell “War Eagle,” or “Roll Tide,” at an Iron Bowl game. Experience the crowning of a champion at the BCS National Championship Game. Do the gator chomp inside Ben Hill Griffin Stadium Spend the day in beautiful Palo Alto, California before hitting up a Stanford night game. Be an innocent bystander at the Red River Rivalry game. Was one of your favorite traditions left off of this list? Post it in the comments section. The post The college football fan’s ultimate bucket list appeared first on Midwest Sports Fans.
