Found March 21, 2013 on The Hockey Program:
(Thanks to the AP / Duane Burleson for the photo....) Oh god, we are at it again! It was a strange fantasy night and a ton of craziness ensued. There were no goals that might have been goals, goals that should not have been, and zany comebacks that never should happen. These are the players and/or teams that made us want to go ah F**K YOU! Are you ready? Let's go! ====================================================== Top F**KUP:  Jimmy Howard -- G -- Detroit Red Wings Its not like Howard was bad but four goals on less than 20 shots is not good no matter the circumstance. Howard just has not been the same goalie since he was on a 50 win pace last year. Whether its injuries or inconsistent play, the Detroit netminder just has a few too many of these clunkers for my fantasy liking. Please understand that in fantasy whether its a soft goal or not, giving goals is giving up goals. Maybe he will get them next time but Howard just flipped the bird to us fantasy owners ...

In case you haven’t noticed, Jimmy Howard has become an elite goaltender for the Wings

You know what? Jimmy Howard has become an elite goaltender and the majority of Detroit fans probably haven’t noticed. The goaltending position in Detroit has always been a touchy subject as its right there with being a Tigers closer or Lions starting quarterback. And whether it was Chris Osgood, Dominic Hasek, Curtis Joesph or everyone’s favorite during the early 90′s Tim Cheveldale...

Henrik Zetterberg lends a hand to an injured high-school hockey player

According to DetroitRedWings.com's Bill Roose, Red Wings captain Henrik Zetterberg has decided to lend a hand to Mary Mrdjenovic, a young lady whose high school athletic career's come to a premature end due to a severe back injury. The 4.0-GPA student applied for a Detroit Red Wings foundation college scolarship, and she's going to receive one: “We have our scholarship...

Belated Red Wings Thursday practice post: Wings shake up lines, leave Helm at home

My apologies for the lateness of this one: I was feeling under the weather today. Anyway, the Red Wings flew from Detroit to Anaheim on Thursday afternoon, and instead of resting their legs, they practiced ahead of an incredibly challenging pair of games against the Ducks on Friday (10 PMEDT, FSD Plus/NHL Network U.S.) and Sunday (8 PM EDT, FSD): Babcock said he doesn...

Red Wings will bring prospect Calle Jarnkrok to Detroit to visit, not play

Red Wings prospect Calle Jarnkrok's Swedish team, Brynas IF, won't repeat as Swedish Eliteserien champions. They were ingloriously swept from the playoffs by Skelleftea AIK on Monday, leaving Jarnkrok's future up in the air. The Wings signed him a year ago, but chose to loan him to Brynas for the Eliteserien season, and the Swedish-language newspapers have assumed that...

Nicklas Lidstrom on ‘teasers’’

Via RedWingsFeed, former Red Wings captain Nicklas Lidstrom's in Gothenburg, Sweden today to take part in a photo shoot for a clothing line (seriously), and Goteborgs-Tidingen's Johan Skold asked Lidstrom about the role of a "retstickor"--literally translated, a "teaser," or what we might call "instigators" or "shift disturbers"--in...

Red Wings-Wild wrap-up and overnight report: disallowed game

The Detroit Red Wings fell into an all-too-familiar trap in dropping their first (and in this case "only") game back from a Western Canadian road swing against a team that had made the same trip, dropping a 4-2 decision to the Minnesota Wild in a game that wasn't nearly as close on the ice as it was on the scoreboard. While the Wings weren't particularly thrilled...

All Chuck Fletcher

from Dan Rosen of NHL.com, A lot of general managers will say they look at the Detroit Red Wings as the model for consistency as a franchise. As a younger GM with experience working in the League for several teams, does that play with you as well and do you want to model your team after the Red Wings? "I think so, but it's a pretty tough path to duplicate their...

Tootoo goal waved off

The Red Wings theoretically scored a goal here, but referee Dave Jackson deemed Drew Miller to have tipped the puck down with a high stick:

Fredo’s Back Soon, And This Time For Good

How long before we see this?  "Getting Carlo back is just like kicking some tires at the deadline and coming away with a special player, a special man, really. I like our team." Ken Holland's big offseason splash is on the verge of returning, essentially guaranteeing the Wings one period of excellence before he gets hurt again. Defenceman Carlo Colaiacovo also...

GDT - Game 30: Red Wings (14-10-5) host Wild (16-10-2) 7:30

The Western Conference standings are tighter than Adrian Dantley's wallet.  The Wings 33 pts have them holding onto the 7th spot at the moment, 3 pts out of 4th place, and only 3 pts in front of 10th place CBJ.  Jobu was apparently in charge of Tuesday's practice;  Eaves is questionable after being hit in the mellon by a puck, Datsyuk has the flu, and Hank has the runs...

Mark Spizzirri: GAMEDAY: Wild vs. Red Wings - "Rivalry Night"

Make sure to follow Mark on Twitter! Tonight's contest...

Red Wings-Wild quick take: bad breaks or a given-away game?

I'm well aware of this fact... they will not say this in the room, but you have to wonder what would have been different, here, .... 1/2 — gregg krupa (@greggkrupa) March 21, 2013 2/2 if the refs had not disallowed tootoo's goal, which would have tied the game at one. might have changed much. — gregg krupa (@greggkrupa) March 21, 2013 But,...

John Jaeckel: Big Wheels A Rollin'

Follow me @jaeckel The Blackhawks followed the script last night in Denver. Franchise figureheads Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews notched three-point nights. All four lines and the defense contributed in different ways and to varying degrees. Goalie Ray Emery was good enough to win. Boom, a 5-2 win, bumping the Hawks' latest win streak to three games, all on the road...
