This week on the Friday Blitz, I look at Jacquiz Rodgers and a calling to arms. I also will discuss my feelings about the media bashing of the Atlanta Falcons. As always, let me know your thoughts below or on Twitter @ColossalChicken. It is time for the Falcons to unleash Jacqquiz Rodgers. He has proven himself to be a playmaker on key drives. I just get nauseous every time I see the Falcons run a draw play with Turner. The Falcons are switching to a shotgun offense ran by the leading MVP candidate this season, Matt Ryan. Atlanta has a little bolt of energy named Jacquizz Rodgers. Atlanta should utilize him in the same manor their hated rival New Orleans uses Darren Sproles. Is Quizz as fast as Sproles? Hell no. But he is explosive enough to bring the electric change of pace tempo needed in this offense. Turner is not good at catching footballs. That is why for the past 5 years Atlanta rarely ever threw him a ball. Quizz is good out of the backfield. This year our screen game has exploded, causing teams to reevaluate their fire blitzes. I like Turner, but I LOVE the upside of Jacquizz. Unleash him! This week, everyone’s favorite play-by-play guy John “BOOM” Madden was quoted as not being a believer in the Atlanta Falcons. This marks yet another occasion where the undefeated Falcons take a beating on a national level. Im a Sirius subscriber and listen every day to SiriusXM NFL Radio ( if you haven’t tried it … it will change your life) anyhow, Madden called Atlanta a “solid team”. He went on to explain that we have “solid players” but isn’t ready to believe in Atlanta as contenders.  Is Madden wrong? I would venture and say yes, but solid is good enough to get you into the playoffs, SPECIAL is winning in the playoffs. Matt Ryan has yet to do that. The Falcons want to be special this year. As fans, we want to be taken seriously by the media. The players don’t. As fans, we are tired of hearing, “Win a playoff game first”. Its halfway through the season, we are unbeaten, will we win in January? I don’t know, but it looks promising. As for this week, I am taking the Falcons 23-20 in a close one. No Spoon = problems for Atlanta, but the Falcons will Rise Up to the challenge.
