Found February 11, 2014 on Fightin For Philly:
As the off-season begins, the Eagles look to improve on their 10-6 record by improving their roster and staff. The Eagles have already hired former Vikings Offensive Coordinator Bill Musgrave as the new QB coach. Now, the attention shifts to the roster. With 8 Eagles as free agents and over 20.5 million under the salary cap, GM Howie Roseman has a lot of room to play with. Here are a few of my suggestions.   Sign WR Riley Cooper over Jeremy Maclin I know Maclin may be the better receiver. But, Cooper is coming of his best year while Maclin is coming off an ACL injury. With the Eric Decker rumors swirling, he would be a good No. 3 or No. 2 receiver. Re-signing J-Mac would be nice. But, I would go with Coop.   Re-Sign Punter Donnie Jones Donnie Jones had one of his best seasons as a punter since 2010. His punting helped the special teams unit over the course of the season. Keeping him around would help keep the unit together and improve the unit.   Find a Free Safety Since Brian Dawkins departure after the 2008 season, the safety position has been an unsure area. Do you re-sign Nate Allen, Kurt Coleman, or Colt Anderson? Or Find someone in Free Agency? Or the Draft? However the Eagles brain trust does it, they need the replacement this season.

Eagles need duo behind McCoy to step up in 2014

Philadelphia Eagles running back LeSean McCoy had a fantastic year in 2013. He’s in the prime of his career, and it’s hard to argue that he isn’t the best running back in the game. But what about the two guys behind him on the roster? Chris Polk and Bryce Brown are obviously working with limited carries behind McCoy. But in today’s NFL, injuries can happen at the drop of...

Reading the Tea Leaves on Possible Jeremy Maclin Contract Negotiations

It seems to me that the Philadelphia Eagles and Jeremy Maclin are in contract negotiations.  While there has been no official confirmation that the two sides are actually talking yet, there have been signs that appear to point in that direction. It mainly started with an innocuous “report” (tweet) from a former Philadelphia sports radio host on 97.5 The Fanatic… Believe it...

Eagles unlikely to find backup QB via free agency

I talked about this a bit last week, so I’ll just rehash what I previously discussed. Since it seems Michael Vick’s days in Philadelphia are over, the Eagles are (probably) now in the market for a third quarterback. With how the franchise has asserted itself the past few seasons — both with roster moves and coaching changes — it appears that the Eagles are headed in a more...

Nick Foles Continued Evolution Crucial

The Eagles will now go as far as Nick Foles will take them. His continued development will be the top storyline to watch this offseason. (Image via Philly.com) Nick Foles' wildly successful 2013 regular season was strong enough to cement him as the Philadelphia Eagles starting quarterback this season and moving forward, but that by no means is validation that he has become a...

Buccaneers sign former Eagles QB Mike Kafka

Today, former Philadelphia Eagles draft pick Mike Kafka signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers according to his agent. @MikeMcCartney7: Excited for @mikekafka3 signing with the @TBBuccaneers This is a great signing for the Bucs, because he can help last year rookie Mike Glennon. The post Buccaneers sign former Eagles QB Mike Kafka appeared first on NFL Draft Diamonds.

NFL executive: Michael Vick will be a starter in 2014

An NFL executive told Judy Batista of NFL.com that he believes Michael Vick will land a starting job even though he was benched this past season with the Eagles. “There are too many teams that are in need of an upgrade for him not to be looked at as a starter,” the personnel executive said. “I could see a team signing him, and developing a young guy. Vick could be a very good...

Free Agent Wide Receiver Preview

Riley Cooper and Jeremy Maclin are both unrestricted free agents in a thin wide receiver market (Image Courtesy CSNPhilly.com). Over the next couple of weeks, Eagledelphia will be addressing the Eagles free agents needs while evaluating producing a position-by-position analysis. Free Agent Tight End Preview

Zach Ertz is expected to take the "next step" next year for the Eagles, but who will be joining the tight end ranks? (Image Courtesy of BetAmerica.com). Over the next couple of weeks, Eagledelphia will be addressing the Eagles free agents needs while evaluating producing a position-by-position analysis. The today’s area to be addressed: Tight End. It was an interesting...

Could the Eagles target a running back in the draft?

Don’t be shocked if the Eagles draft a running back with their first-round pick. Sorry, I had to. Yeah, that’s not happening. I understand that the Eagles value roster competition and the idea of drafting the best available player, but they wouldn’t take a running back right off the bat. Later in the draft? Well, that’s a different story. Behind LeSean McCoy, the Eagles’...

Morning Muse: Philadelphia Eagles will be ‘cautious’ in free agency

Yesterday marked the first Sunday since August with no NFL football. Yes, that’s right–this cold, unrelenting winter just got worse. As we try to come to terms with the long, dark offseason, let’s take comfort in the fact that there is still news about the Eagles. Here’s a look at some of the best headlines from the weekend. We all remember the spending spree that marked...

Colts Sign S David Sims

The Indianapolis Colts announced the signing of S David Sims Monday morning. Sims last played for the Philadelphia Eagles in 2012 where he recorded eight solo tackles, one tackle for loss and one pass defensed over the course of 15 games. Philadelphia ultimately waived Sims before the start of the season. Sims was an undrafted free agent out of Iowa State and later signed with...

Potential Backup QB Targets For The Eagles This Offseason

With Michael Vick likely to seek another opportunity as a starter in the NFL, Zach Berman of the Philadelphia Inquirer takes a look at some potential offseason options for the Eagles and their soon-to-be vacant backup quarterback position. According to Berman, the Eagles could consider veteran free agents including Colt McCoy, Josh Freeman, Chad Henne and Tavaris Jackson. Berman...

Chiefs won’t get into bidding war to sign Jeremy Maclin

The Kansas City Chiefs appear to be interested in free agent wide receiver Jeremy Maclin, as was pointed out a month ago and hasn’t seemed to change since then. The team needs deep threats for Alex Smith and they need speedy receivers who can take his short passes downfield, and Maclin appears to be well equipped to do that. He even has history with head coach Andy Reid, who drafted...
