If you happen to be looking for diehard Miami Marlins fans, a small group of them decided to hold a fan protest outside of the Marlins new downtown stadium.
The group of fans were protesting Marlins owner Jeffrey Loria's recent trading of Jose Reyes, Heath Bell, and others.
Clearly, the group is sending a message with about five people showing up....
This is why fan protests should never be done over the holidays....

Remember earlier this year when a dozen or so Miami Dolphins fans showed up to Joe Robbie Pro Player Sun Life their stadium to protest the ongoing employment of general manager Jeff Ireland and everyone was like, “Awwwww, those poor fans think they can make Stephen Ross make good decisions”? Players' Union to monitor Marlins payroll purge
NEW YORK (AP) -- The players' association will monitor the Miami Marlins following their payroll purge, saying it is too early to determine whether the salary cuts will cause any issues under baseball's labor contract.
After complaints by the union that the Marlins weren't using revenue-sharing money to improve, the players' association, Major League Baseball and...
Did The Marlins Kill Publicly-Financed Ballparks?
No.
The Marlins didn’t kill publicly-financed ballparks. Or arenas. Or stadiums. Not in Florida. Not anywhere. Sure, the Marlins’ fire-sale trade with the Blue Jays — which came less than a year after the opening of the publicly-financed Marlins Ballpark — won’t help the cause of those seeking public monies to build new sports facilities. But teams will continue to seek...

Maury Brown Talks Marlins Finances, the Blockbuster Trade, and Those Effing Brewers
While the Miami Marlins took on more than $200 million in total player payroll less than a year ago at the Baseball Winter Meetings, they ended the season moving Anibal Sanchez, Omar Infante (Tigers), and Hanley Ramirez (Dodgers). On Tuesday evening they made that look like child’s play by moving Jose Reyes (2013:$10M, 2014:$16M, 2015:$22M, 2016:$22M, 2017:$22M, 2018:$22M club...
Marlins face wrath of fans, Stanton
Now that commissioner Bud Selig has signed off on the 12-player trade between Miami and the Toronto Blue Jays, the Marlins face a major damage-control task with their fans and their star player. "I am sensitive to the concerns of the fans of Miami regarding this trade, and I understand the reactions I have heard," Selig said in a statement Nov. 19 when the mega-deal was...
Inside Selig's Approval of the Marlins-Blue Jays Trade
It shouldn’t be surprising that on Monday, Commissioner Selig approved the blockbuster trade between the Marlins and the Blue Jays (see details on why at the bottom of the article here on Baseball Prospectus). The move by the Marlins, widely panned as it is seen a salary dump after their new ballpark just opened, has taken longer than most to approve. While Selig approved the deal...
