Ike Davis surged above the mendoza line on Saturday afternoon in Los Angeles, collecting two hits in four at-bats during the New York Mets 5-0 victory over the Dodgers:

Davis collected his first hit of the contest, a lead-off double, in the top of the second inning before advancing to third on a Lucas Duda fly out to right.  One batter later, he scored the games first run on Daniel Murphy sacrifice fly giving NY the early, 1-0 lead.  Then in the sixth, Davis put the game out of reach, hammering a three-run blast off Dodgers starter Nathan Eovaldi. Following a single and stolen base by Andres Torres, Eovaldi and Dodger manager, Don Mattingly, opted to intentionally walk David Wright to face Davis with two on and one-out.  Davis wasted no time in making the Dodger brain trust regret their decision, blasting the first pitch he saw deep into the right-center field seats, giving the Mets a 5-0 lead they would not relinquish.  The home run was Ike’s 11th of the year and 6th in the month of June, as the NY first baseman told reporters the following after the game:

“Hopefully. I can continue to do some damage in situations like that.  Especially if other teams are going to walk David. Maybe, towards the second half of the season they’ll start to have to pitch to him. I think like every home run I’ve hit has basically been a three-run homer. I’ve been blessed to get it done with guys on base. …As long as I’m producing and helping the team win that’s all that matters.”

This is the Ike that Mets fans have been waiting to see.  After struggling to get out of his own way the first two months of the season (.185 in April, .154 in May) Davis has surely turned it around in the month of June.  His 24 June RBI ranked third most in the National League and since June 9th, the Mets slugger is batting .333 (21-63) with 14 runs scored, seven doubles, six home runs and 21 runs batted in, lifting his season average to .203 in the process:
