Thrash cut by Redskins, may retire due to injury

ASHBURN, VA. (AP) - Veteran receiver James Thrash has been released by the Washington Redskins after failing a physical.Thrash has been unable to practice during the offseason because of a neck injury that has him contemplating retirement. He said recently his decision could hinge on whether he would need surgery to keep playing.Coach Jim Zorn said on Friday that he hopes Thrash will continue to be involved with the Redskins in some capacity.Thrash has played 12 seasons, including nine in two stints with the Redskins.
