It's no secret that Major League Baseball has placed a lifetime ban on all-time hit king and Cincinnati native Pete Rose. The league has pretty much ignored all of Rose's achievements since banning the Reds legend for betting on baseball.
In fact, Commissioner Bud Selig would probably like it if there were no traces of Rose's impact on the game available at all. So, it comes as no surprise to hear that longtime broadcaster Tim McCarver went on the Dan Patrick Show Monday and revealed that MLB allegedly restricts FOX and ESPN from airing any video footage of Rose's playing days.
Here is the audio to serve as proof:
The Los Angeles Times followed up on his comments:
Major League Baseball had no official comment on McCarver’s remarks. An executive there familiar with the relationship between the TV networks and Major League Baseball who declined to speak publicly on the matter said, “There isn’t a blanket restriction.”
Well, someone is ...

An updated midseason Cincinnati Reds Top 10 prospects list.
Team: Cincinnati Reds
Record: 53-42 (5.0 GB)
Biggest Surprise of 1st Half:
When all five starting pitchers make 30 or more starts, just like they did in 2012, you would expect maybe they wouldn’t have the same amount of luck the following year. However the Reds’ starting pitching is still very much reliable and has been blessed with good health the past two years aside from missing...
A trio of Reds have made their way to New York City ahead of Major League Baseball's All-Star Game to played Tuesday night at Citi Field. One of those Reds is none other than Gold Glove second basemen Brandon Phillips.
The always outspoken and happy-go-lucky veteran had plenty to say at the National League's ASG press conference on Monday and even went as far as saying...
Jay Bruce hits his 19th home run off the Braves. After the way the Cincinnati Reds have been playing of late, it sure was nice to see them end the unofficial first half of the season with a win. The win over the Atlanta Braves also earned them a split in the series against one of the major’s best teams.
It wasn’t always a sure thing, though. Tony Cingrani started and pitched fairly...
The Cincinnati Reds will wear home uniforms and bat last, if needed, in the first game of a July 23 doubleheader at San Francisco.

The Colorado Rockies added right handed pitcher Armando Galarraga on Monday in a trade with the Cincinnati Reds.
Galarraga, 31, had been pitching for the Reds Triple-A team in Louisville. During his tenure with Louisville Galarraga had made 16 starts and compiled a 2.98 ERA and a 1.39 WHIP.
Last season Galarraga made five starts at the major league level with Houston going 0-4...
Denver, CO (Sports Network) - The Colorado Rockies acquired pitcher Armando Galarraga from the Cincinnati Reds in exchange for pitcher Parker Frazier...
Well this is petty and asinine. Tim McCarver appeared on The Dan Patrick Show this morning after DP returned from a summer vacation and dropped a nugget about the paranoia that permeates throughout Major League Baseball. The Fox analyst revealed MLB restricts them from showing video of all-time hit king Pete Rose, and the same goes for ESPN as well.
Rose has been part...
Who knew MLB on FOX analyst Tim McCarver was a Metallica fan? McCarver and partner Joe Buck were discussing New York Yankees' closer Mariano Rivera's entrance on the All-Star Game broadcast after the reliever came out to a standing ovation in the final Mid-Summer Classic appearance of his career. It was a terrific moment as players from both leagues stood and applauded, while...

Because sometimes life lobs you the wonderfully absurd, here’s Prince Fielder hitting a triple in last night’s MLB All-Star Game, and Tim McCarver reciting however much he knows of Metallica’s ‘Enter Sandman’ while it happens. He should’ve done this the entire game. I wanted to hear a “whisky in the jar-o” reference for Miguel Cabrera. (video via Deadspin)- Follow...

Brandon Phillips didn't record a hit in his two at-bats in the All-Star Game on Tuesday, but he did notch a pair of nice defensive plays in the top of the fifth.
Both of those plays are highlighted in this video clip.
Try and block out the sound of color commentator Tim McCarver as you watch. I'm not sure if he adds any extra...

1964 TOPPS COIN RON HUNT
Here’s to Ron Hunt, the first Mets player to start an All-Star game.
Hunt manned 2nd base for the 1964 NL All Stars, batting eighth in a lineup that included Roberto Clemente, Billy Williams, Willie Mays, and Orlando Cepeda.
The Mets were hosting the game in a brand-new Shea Stadium (was there ever really such a thing?) that year, so it might be tempting...
