During a recent appearance on Jim Rome’s show Rome, Titans running back compared himself to current NBA Finals MVP, NBA MVP and NBA Champion, LeBron James. According to Johnson, “I feel just like LeBron — a lot of people are going to be back on the bandwagon,” Johnson said. “He had a lot of haters out there, a lot of people saying he wasn’t good and things like that and just to see how he overcame that and came back this year and won the championship, it shows his hard work and dedication.”
Further adding, ““I feel like a lot of people have written me off,” Johnson said. “I still went over 1,000 yards but it wasn’t a CJ2K year. So a lot of people are going to write me off. . . . I want to be the first one to do it twice, that’s certainly a goal of mine to do. . . . I feel like I’m still the best back in the league. When I ran for 2,000 yards my goal was to be the best player in the league and I still want to be that. In order for my team to make it to the playoffs, make it to the Super Bowl, I’m going to have to be the best.”
Chris Johnson comparing himself to possibly one of the best NBA players ever is down right hilarious. Not only did Johnson hold out last season, but then went on to rush for 1,047 yards and 4 touchdowns. I guess holding out, becoming lazy and not working out in the off-season warrants comparing yourself to another league’s most valuable player. All I know is Chris Johnson sure has a large ego. After just one 2,000 yard season, Johnson thinks he is the best player in the league. Maybe that ego will help him during the 2012 season but I doubt it. Not only is he not the best player in the league but he is not even the best running back or in the top 5 anymore. Adrian Peterson, Arian Foster, Ray Rice, LeSean McCoy, Maurice Jones-Drew and Michael Turner are all arguably better than Chris Johnson. Maybe he will use the 2012 season to prove me wrong, but I highly doubt that.
