PLAYERS: Todd Peck
LENVILLE, Penn. – Todd Peck will make his first start of the 2013 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series season in Thursday night’s UNOH 225. The Pennsylvania native will pilot the No. 07 Arthritis Foundation/OrthoCarolina Chevrolet Silverado in his inaugural start at the 1.5-mile Kentucky Speedway. It will be Peck’s sixth-career Truck Series start and his first time competing at a track over one mile. “We’re really excited about making our first Camping World Truck Series start of 2013,” Peck said. “This will be a big milestone for our team. It’s our first time competing at a mile-and-a-half track. We’re looking forward to taking that step and continuing our progression. We learned a lot last season and have spent the last few months making some really big improvements to our equipment. I feel like we’re more prepared than ever before.” Peck, who was diagnosed with arthritis as a child, will continue his association with the Arthritis Foundation this season, a partnership that began in 2011. He will use his racing platform to encourage everyone with the condition to live an active and healthy lifestyle. “It’s especially exciting to know that we’ll be racing with the Arthritis Foundation again,” Peck said. “Our team really enjoyed working with them last season and we’re thrilled to continue that relationship. We’ll be hosting children with the condition and their families at the track, speaking at conventions and doing appearances on the foundation’s behalf. It’s an honor and extremely rewarding to be associated with them.” Peck won’t be racing alone in his first start at Kentucky Speedway. Onboard his truck bed will be the names of 13 kids who submitted entries into his helmet design contest. At the beginning of the race season, Peck asked kids with juvenile arthritis to send him their original artwork to cover his helmet. After receiving hundreds of entries, a panel of judges narrowed it down to four finalists. Their designs were posted on the Peck Motorsports facebook page, where the team’s fans voted for their favorite submission. In the end, it was Briana Hutton from Scott City, Kansas whose design garnered the most votes. Following the contest, each of the team members at Peck Motorsports chose their favorite design, which was decaled on The No. 07 Chevy’s truck bed. Each kid who submitted the design has his or her name below their creation. “This is a very exciting week for Peck Motorsports,” said Keith Wolfe, general manager of Peck Motorsports. “We’re looking forward to racing at our first intermediate track. It’s our goal to be competitive at NASCAR’s top levels and this is another step in our journey. We’ve come a long way since making our first start in 2011, and we’re ready to continue the development this week at Kentucky.” In Peck’s five previous Truck Series starts, his best finish is 18th place. Peck started his career driving go-karts. He worked his way up to the national levels in karting before advancing to the Allison Legacy Series. Peck has experience in the Rev-Oil Pro Cup Series, more than 15 starts in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East. He has done all of this while overcoming the conditions of living with arthritis. -Breaking Limits PR
