The Pittsburgh Steelers are currently trying to finalize a trade with the Arizona Cardinals that will land them left tackle Levi Brown, who was a former first-round draft pick in 2007. The need for Brown is an obvious one as second-year offensive lineman Mike Adams hasn't played well at all to start the season. Head coach Mike Tomlin was asked to comment on the play at left tackle so far this season following Wednesday's bye week practice. "We've gotten below the line work and that's the reality of it," Tomlin said. "It needs to be above the line and we'll turn over any stones in order for that to happen." With Brown still not officially in the fold, Tomlin was still asked to speculate on what his addition to the team might mean and how he will be used moving forward. "We're going to wait and see," said Tomlin. "Obviously, his ability to take in and learn information is going to be an element of it. Also, obviously, the deal...

Steelers Trade for Levi Brown Sends Mixed Messages

Pending a physical today, Arizona Cardinals’ offensive tackle Levi Brown will be traded to the Pittsburgh Steelers today for a late round draft pick. This trade comes on the heels of division rival Baltimore making a deal for Eugene Monroe the day before. From our view at SCB, we find this move to be sending a series of mixed messages. According to Pro Football Focus, Brown was...

Cardinals seem too willing to heap all the blame on Brown

TEMPE, Ariz. -- Following a brief press conference with Cardinals general manager Steve Keim and coach Bruce Arians on Wednesday regarding the Levi Brown trade, it was hard to escape this conclusion: After listening to all three men speak, the only one assuming a shred of accountability was Brown. In just about eight minutes worth of comments, Keim and Arians managed to throw Brown...

Report: Steelers & Cardinals Finalizing Trade For LT Levi Brown

The Ravens aren’t the only NFL team trying to shore up their battered offensive line. Jason La Canfora is reporting that the Steelers and Arizona Cardinals are finalizing a deal that will send embattled left tackle Levi Brown to Pittsburgh. Ravens aren't the only team in AFC North moving for tackle help – Steelers and Cards are hammering out a trade sending Levi Brown to...

Arizona Cardinals trade OT Levi Brown to the Pittsburgh Steelers

Trade for Steelers: The Steelers clearly need left tackle help. 2012 2nd round pick Mike Adams is bombing in his first chance as a full-time starter. Only Atlanta’s tackles, Sam Baker and Lamar Holmes, have graded out worse than Adams on ProFootballFocus this season. However, Brown isn’t a significant upgrade. He currently ranks just 10 spots higher than Adams, 60th out of 72...

Levi Brown Will Only Cost The Steelers $840K In 2013

According to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports, the Arizona Cardinals agreed to pay all but $840,000 of the $3.632 million salary that tackle Levi Brown was scheduled to earn prior to trading him Wednesday to the Pittsburgh Steelers. And PIT gets Levi Brown at $840K (vet min), while the Cards pay $2.8M of the remainder of his $$ due in '13. full story ahead @CBSSports — Jason...

The Better It Sounds, The Worse It Feels

By Matthew Marczi The better it sounds, the less optimistic I am that this deal will make much of a difference. When it was reported that the Pittsburgh Steelers traded with the Arizona Cardinals for the services of left tackle Levi Brown, I was not entirely sure what to think. Was this a move to acquire a new left tackle? Was Mike Adams doing such a poor job that the team felt he...

For Steelers’ Fans That Want the Quick Fix for Next Year, Here It Is

Let me preface this piece by saying the Pittsburgh Steelers do not overreact to any situation. They will not make a decision because of ‘fan-sentiment’ or because it worked on Madden 25 (yes I’ve had this suggested). Lastly, they rarely make trades during the season let alone at all so for those of you who have already realized that Mike Tomlin, Todd Haley, Kevin Colbert and...

Ben Roethlisberger clarifies ‘worst team’ comment: ‘I was talking record-wise’

Ben Roethlisberger says the Pittsburgh Steelers are the worst team in the league only because they’re 0-4. “I was talking record-wise,” said Roethlisberger to the team’s website when asked about the comment he made after Sunday’s loss to the Minnesota Vikings. “If you look record-

Le’Veon Bell Has Likely Done His Last Flip Into The End Zone For A While

The flip into the end zone for a touchdown Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings might very well be the last one that Pittsburgh Steelers running back Le'Veon Bell does for while, according to Aditi Kinkhabwala of the NFL Network. Bell, who scored his first NFL touchdown from eight yards out with 4:02 left in the first quarter, said Tuesday that he was given a pass for the flip...

Steelers Injury Report: WR Markus Wheaton Has Finger Surgery

According to Missi Matthews of Steelers.com, Pittsburgh Steelers rookie wide receiver Markus Wheaton has had surgery on the pinky finger that he broke Sunday during the loss to the Minnesota Vikings. Tomlin said they "tempered the work" of Ben, Heath, Bell & McLendon this week. Ramon did not practice and Markus Wheaton has finger surgery — Missi Matthews (@missi_matthews...

The Current Dilemma of the Pttsburgh Steelers

By Brandon Fleming in Corona, CA This all started on January 7, 2007 when Coach Bill Cowher decided to retire to "spend more time with his family." The Steelers interviewed former offensive coordinator Chan Gailey, offensive line coach Russ Grimm, offensive coordinator Ken Whisenhunt, (both of them were assistant coaches with the Steelers), the Vikings...

Finger Surgery Could Prevent Markus Wheaton From Playing Against The Jets

Hands and fingers are much needed tools for wide receivers and Pittsburgh Steelers rookie wide receiver Markus Wheaton broke one of his digits this past Sunday in the loss to the Minnesota Vikings. Head coach Mike Tomlin announced on Wednesday that the Steelers third-round draft pick had surgery preformed on Tuesday to repair the broken pinkie finger, but didn't offer up any...

Will Coach Tomlin Continue to Make Lineup Changes?

After the Steelers Vikings loss that made this team 0-4, Coach Tomlin was aggressive in his promise that he would change the lineup to bring in better players or at least turn guys away who were not winning. Well so far, that is true. Bringing in Levi Brown from the Cardinals to replace Mike Adams at left tackle is definitely an attempt at an upgrade. How much of an upgrade is yet...

New York Giants: 2013 Week 5 NFL Power Rankings (#21)

Last week: 18 (-3) Record: 0-4 Like with the Steelers, the Giants have not won a game and are ranked ahead of teams that have won games. Again, if you want teams sorted by record, go to ESPN.com’s NFL Standings (or their NFL Power Rankings because they’re pretty much the same thing). Any talk of firing Tom Coughlin (or Mike Tomlin for that matter) is absurd. If the Giants had...
