It is bad enough that the Toronto Maple Leafs have lost Dave Bolland for a while, but now the team has to go without the services of Nazem Kadri for three games. Nazen Kadri was suspended for three games. The league handed down a three game suspension on Thursday to Kadri for crashing into Minnesota’s goalie, Niklas Backstrom the night before.  Backstrom left the game early in the first period. Kadri was also thrown out of the game in the third period for slamming a Minnesota player head first into the boards.  Kadri also got a five minute major for that hit.  Leaf’s head coach, Randy Carlyle thought the check was legal, but the officials seen it differently. As for the game itself, the Leafs were mediocre.  ”We didn’t play good in  the second period,” said Carlyle in the post game press conference. With under five minutes to play in regulation, the Leafs were on their way to their 12th win of the season.  However, Phil Kessel, of all people,  coughed the puck up in his team’s zone.  To add insult to injury, when  Kessel tied to salvage the puck, the puck hit his skate and went in the net. Overtime solved nothing, instead, the game went to a shoot out. The Leafs lost the shoot out and took the 2-1 loss. Next up for the Leafs was the Buffalo Sabres. I knew this was probably going to be a rough game because these two teams don’t practically hate each other. Well, the game wasn’t as rough as I thought it would’ve  been, but there were a few scrums during the game. Carlyle said that his team worked hard during the  game, but it wasn’t enough as the Leafs lost 3-1.  ”We had our chances in the hockey game,” said Carlyle, “We weren’t rewarded for our hard work.” The Leafs face the Sabres again tonight in front of their home crowd at the Air Canada Center.  I wouldn’t be surprise if these two teams show a little animosity during the game.
