Pat Leonard at the Daily News has this quote from John Tortorella on the Rangers building a winner from within..."Well that's how you build. That's how you become, I think, a good organization," John Tortorella said Tuesday morning at the Coliseum. "You keep your kids, you keep developing your kids, you add some pieces along the way, but you just don't keep on turning it over. And I think (GM) Glen (Sather) has done a great job of that, with the core of our team, they've really been together now for three years, three or four years in some instances."...as you all know my main concern with the Richards signing was that the Rangers would now be tempted to move some of their kids to bring in a veteran at the deadline, but it's quotes like this that puts me, at least a little, at ease....and Torts deserves all the credit for this. He has preached developing the kids since he's come on board. Kudos to Sather as well for finally buying in.Henri...

Avery Still Frustrated with Lack of Impartiality from Officials

Sean Avery still knows how to grab attention and stir things up in hockey games, but since being recalled from the AHL this season, he's been a much more level-headed player than we've seen in the past. In other words, he's been playing within the rules set forth by the league, however he still has encountered unfair bias against him when it comes to the NHL's officials...

Marc Staal Making Strides... But Not Too Far

As I added into this morning's article on Brad Richards, defenseman Marc Staal has been cleared for light physical activity by his concussion specialist according to Larry Brooks in the New York Post. Staal, as you know, has been on shutdown for the past month after suffering from relapse post-concussion symptoms in training camp back in September. That means he hasn't been...

Photo: Brad Richards Wearing The Broadway Hat

… Richards totally deserved the honor of receiving the Broadway Hat after last night’s game winning goal against the Islanders to help the Rangers win their 7th game in a row.  Should Olivia Munn get an assist? I say HELL YES!

Lesson Learned - Rangers @ Islanders (Sorta?) Post Game Thoughts…

That’s gotta be the first time i’ve ever seriously thought the Rangers have had more fans than the actual home team. Not just a few more fans, but far and away more fans. It honestly sounded louder than at the Garden in favor of the Rangers, which is just mind boggling to the nth degree. The Rangers should have learned their lesson from the previous time they played...

Hank Admits He Can Get Drawn into Montreal Atmosphere

After today's practice Henrik Lundqvist said this about his recent struggles in Montreal (via Rangers Twitter account)..."Sometimes I think you can get drawn too much into the atmosphere there."The Rangers have lost six of their last seven in Montreal....i always feel that once things start rolling downhill for the Rangers in Montreal they can't stop it. A big reason...

Icy hot feeling OK with Torts

After entering November with a 4-3-3 record, the Rangers have vaulted near the top of the Eastern Conference by putting together a seven-game winning streak. And, according to coach John Tortorella, all facets of the team have contributed to the team’s recent success. “We’re playing pretty good team...

Lucky Seven: Rangers Keep Rolling

Brad Richards is taking to life as a big star in New York quite well. He's showing up in Page Six for squiring starlets around town on his nights off and leading the Rangers to wins when he's working, something that's known as Jetering around these parts. Well, it's not really known as Jetering, but it should be especially when the Rangers are as hot as they are right...

Richards vs. Me for @TheBroadwayHat

Last night two Broadway Hats were given out. Video: John Tortorella Praises Team

… the team has been great all around and hopefully they keep it up against Montreal tonight for their 8th win in a row.

Rangers extend win streak

This was a case of the big-time player making the big-time play. This was a case of Page Six Brad Richards stepping up when the Rangers required it. For it was Richards who overpowered Evgeni Nabokov with a left-circle slap shot at 15:05 of the third to break a...

Highlights From Tuesday’s Rangers Win Over The Islanders

… a win is a win. It was a sloppy game overall but the Rangers found a way to win their 7th in a row. They ALWAYS have a hard time against the Isles no matter how bad the Isles are at that time.

Save of the Year for Lundqvist?

Last night during my post game thoughts I stated that Henirk Lundqvist's second period diving save on P.A. Parenteau could be save of the year. Looks like Brandon Dubinsky agrees... #embedly_twitter_88150148{background:url(http://a0.twimg.com/profile_background_images/353440413/dubinsky.jpg) #C0DEED; padding:20px;} #embedly_twitter_88150148 p{background:#fff;padding:10px 12px...

The win pushed the Whale (8-4-1-2) into first place in the Northeast Division with 19 points. David Ullstrom had two goals for the Sound Tigers, while Bridgeport...
