Jeff Gluck posted the best Tweet I’ve seen all weekend. At 3:37 PM he Tweeted “John Wes Townley out, Jason White in No. 32 car for Sunday’s Pocono race.” That was followed up by a tweet by Bob Pockrass “When I looked at 32 car in the garage about 45 minutes ago, the right side was all scratched up and damage to right rear fender.” No official word has come out from the FAS Lane Racing camp, but I surmise that Townley getting into the wall in opening practice was an ominous sign of what he can do during the race. White seems like a safe pick versus Townley, as his driving record has less accidents and DWI in it. All weekend long there has been disbelief among NASCAR fans and writers that Townley got the nod in the #32 car. Nothing much has been said, but this clearly was a money deal. Townley carries sponsorship from being the son of one of the co-founders of the Zaxby’s chicken franchise. The #32 car was locked into the race, so Townley would have been there Sunday and it would have been interesting to see what he could do. I think it would have ended as well as putting a bull in a China shop, and I think FAS Lane Racing agreed.
PLAYERS: John Wes Townley
