I completed my third trade with Robert from $30 a week habit. You can read about the first here and the second here. In exchange for a Dion Phaneuf RC, a few Shawn Green Jays cards, and a handful of serial numbered cards for Robert's new and daunting set task (which comes with its own blog too), I received this nice Teemu Selanne jersey swatch.Yes, there was in fact a time when Teemu was not a Duck. We tend to not speak about those times (except for 2003....2003 is acceptable). The one huge attraction this relic has - other than it's of a future Hall of Famer, of whom I only have one or two hits - is that the jersey piece is colorful. Always a plus. Robert also knocked out a huge chunk of my remaining 2011 Ginter needs, which I'd scan, but when I say chunk, I mean a huge huge chunk. Thirty-seven base cards (four of 'em short-prints), one Ascent of Man, and six Hometown Heroes. My Ginter needs have been updated accordingly. Thanks as always for another great trade Rober...

Perry Struggling To Follow Up MVP Season

Corey Perry may have won the MVP in 2010/11 but he isn’t looking like he will be in the running this year.  After 17 games played he has 11 points.  This puts him on pace for a 53 point season, which would be his lowest total since 2006/07. Perry has become the target for his opposition.  Teams have keyed in on him more than his teammates - especially Ryan Getzlaf and Teemu...

Ducks speak, listen, execute to beat Canucks

With two early goals conceded Wednesday against Nashville and several less-than-stellar starts defining their early season inconsistencies, Anaheim Head Coach Randy Carlyle's message was loud and clear. "The starts that we've had, and particularly the last game, the first two shots on goal went in the net. That's not a way to start a hockey game. So we don't...

Shaune Vetter: Is The Youth Movement Upon Us?

It's been a long time since the Flames have truly had any young players that made a big impact. Dion Phaneuf was the exception to the rule when he debuted after the lockout, but besides him, you have to go back to the 90's and the "Young Guns" to find any fresh-faced youths in Flame's red who contributed in any significant way. For much of that time, the...
