Found January 13, 2013 on Kukla's Korner:
Are the Sharks ready?  Is anyone?  I had to decide not to go to training camp today since I had plans to go with friends to a Bulls game.  It takes us months to find a date that works for all of us, so I don't have regrets there.  But I am cranky that the Sharks couldn't skate early enough for me to do both.  It irked me that Flyers and Red Wings had volunteered to do physicals yesterday, and as far as I know Sharks didn't.  My crankiness is no doubt amplified by eager impatience for this season to get going. Dan Boyle explained that this eagerness is shared by the players.  They can't truly know if they are ready either: I did the best that I could to stay in shape... as much as you try, I think you need to play games to get into game shape.  It may take a week or two but... Everybody's so excited to be playing, I think adrenaline will kick in and this was just such a miserable summer for everyone so we're all excited to be back on the ice.  It shou...

Sharks greeted by fans in return from lockout

The San Jose Sharks skated onto their practice rink greeted by a warm ovation from a few hundred fans. After gathering at center ice, the players turned back to the crowd and raised their sticks in salute. With the four-month lockout officially over, the Sharks players and their fans were happy to be back at the rink. San Jose began its abbreviated one-week training camp on Sunday...

Demers and Braun on Finland

Two Sharks defensemen went to play in Finland during the lockout.  Oddly, they both returned with hand injuries and probably won't be available to start the shortened season.   The only thing that would make it more odd would be if it was the same hand.  It isn't.  Jason Demers has a soft removable cast on his right hand, Justin Braun has a cast with a port hole for...

Sharks’ official 2013 schedule released

The Sharks have finally unveiled their schedule for the lockout-shortened, 48-game 2013 season. The NHL released its full schedule Saturday night after the players ratified the new CBA earlier in the day. It gave us a chance to confirm (by our count) that the Sharks schedule that leaked earlier on Saturday was correct. See the schedule here. Some important dates to note: Jan. 20...

Who Are You Guys Again?

(apologies for the delayed post. So much hockey news this past week and I decided to catch the flu. Terrible timing, really) One of the more meaningless losses of the lockouts was my normally encyclopedic knowledge of who is on the team. Sure, we've got your Joe Thorntons, Joe Pavelskis, Douglas Murrays, Ryane Clowe's and Patty Marleaus, but we picked up a few new guys...

Sharks prep for fast-paced season

Joe Thornton's face is already in midseason form. The San Jose Sharks captain took a dozen stitches after a teammate on his Swiss league team clipped him with a stick in practice. The wounds below his left eye may not be very noticeable when the NHL begins its lockout-shortened 48-game season next weekend. Thornton told that the scar left by the league's most...

Sharks announce promotions to thank loyal fans after lockout

The Sharks have announced several promotions for the upcoming season as a chance to buy back, or, in the Sharks’ own words, “thank” their fans after the 131-day lockout that delayed all of us getting to watch hockey until this weekend. It’s almost like getting accosted with gifts from your parents after they told you they were getting divorced. Via David Pollack of the Mercury...
