Tomorrow is the day that Baseball America will release the Reds Top 10 prospects. Should be interesting to see who rounds out the back end of that. You have to assume that Hamilton, Stephenson, Cingrani, Corcino, Winker and Travieso make up the Top 6 in some order. The guys who make up the next four is what will be interesting. Not entirely prospect related, but could be in a sense, but a new study shows that the harder a pitcher throws his fastball, the smaller his called strikezone is at the Major League level. So much so that one out of four pitches thrown inside the strikezone and not swung at with a velocity of 98+ MPH are called a ball despite being in the strikezone according to Pitch F/X. Chalk another reason up for needing to automate the balls and strikes calls in the Major Leagues.
