Glen Perkins wants to close out games and help you close out the bar. The Minnesota Twins relief pitcher made some fans very happy on Saturday when he provided some adult beverages to them while they were on a pub crawl. During a two-hour rain delay, a group of Twins fans made their way to Hrbek’s Pub attached to Target Field to wait out the storm. When Perkins found out that the fans intended to stick out the rain delay even though the Twins were already down 4-0 to the Rays in the third inning, he sent his credit card to Hrbek’s and bought the fans a round, according to Fox Sports North. Check out a photo of the happy fans below. Thanks @Glen_Perkins. You are amazeballs. http://t.co/qMGvLImOgi— Parker Hageman (@OverTheBaggy) September 15, 2013 Thumbnail photo via Twitter/@Glen_Perkins Filed under: Alison Smith, Headlines, MLB, NESN Nation

Josmil Pinto gives Twins fans a reason to cheer

MINNEAPOLIS -- As the Minnesota Twins march toward the end of another losing season, there haven't been too many bright spots to speak of lately. Josmil Pinto, however, has been one of them. The Twins' rookie catcher has already impressed with his bat during his limited time in the major leagues, but he had his biggest hit of his young career Sunday against Tampa Bay. With...

This round's on me: Glen Perkins hooks up Twins fans

MINNEAPOLIS -- The rain delay at Target Field on Saturday night lasted exactly two hours and four minutes. Plenty of time for the Twins' closer to express his gratitude toward a group of fans for riding it out. MINNEAPOLIS -- They do tabulate assists in both baseball and basketball. Minnesota's major league franchise decided to lend a helping hand to its WNBA neighbor from across the street in advance of Friday's playoff opener. The Minnesota Twins purchased 500 upper-bowl tickets for the Lynx's Game 1 matchup against Seattle. Starting at 8 a.m. Tuesday, fans could call a phone...

Minnesota enduring all types of stomach-churning losses lately

At least the shellackings are over well before the ninth inning. A night after handing the Twins their second double-digit losing margin in the span of a week, the American League Central Division's worst team gave Minnesota an unneeded reminder that the close ones hurt, too. Three well-hit balls in the ninth inning of a 4-3 defeat -- the Twins' 10th in their last 13 outings...

Twins score 4 in 8th to rally past Tampa Bay 6-4

Josmil Pinto is a "hungry" ballplayer manager Ron Gardenhire said Sunday someone who is "really interested" in showing the Twins he deserves a spot on the 2014 roster. He makes a pretty convincing case. Pinto launched a three-run home run into the Tampa Bay bullpen in the bottom of the eighth inning Sunday rallying the Twins past the playoff-contending Rays...

Pelfrey struggles in Twins' 4-3 loss to White Sox

Mike Pelfrey came into Tuesday's game struggling and a team that appears to have his number kept him on a downward slope. Pelfrey (5-13) lost his third consecutive start, giving up three runs in just 4 1-3 innings as the Minnesota Twins lost 4-3 to the Chicago White Sox on Tuesday night. Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said Pelfrey's early struggles had to do with a poor curveball...

Twins starting pitching still a question going into 2014

Entering the 2013 season, the biggest question mark for the Minnesota Twins was starting pitching. One offseason later, that may once again be the main area of concern for general manager Terry Ryan and his staff. Ryan signed a pair of free agent veterans last winter in Kevin Correia and Mike Pelfrey, and also traded away outfielder Ben Revere in exchange for two more pitchers. One...

Twins wake up and rally past Rays 6-4

After four straight losses that included consecutive shutouts, Minnesota Twins manager Ron Gardenhire just wanted to see his team put up a fight in Sunday's series finale against the Tampa Bay Rays. Minnesota's come-from-behind victory was a bonus. Ryan Doumit and Josmil Pinto homered off reliever Joel Peralta in a four-run eighth inning, and the Twins ended a 25-inning...

Pelfrey trying to avoid losing three straight starts

Impressive offensive production, particularly from Alexei Ramirez, has spurred the Chicago White Sox's four-game winning streak over the Minnesota Twins. Jose Quintana would surely appreciate some help from the bats. Ramirez and the White Sox look to give Quintana some needed support as he tries to win Tuesday night for the first time since he last faced the Twins a month ago...
