Chia-Jen Lo's 93-mph first-pitch fastball jumped off Chris Colabello's bat and soared majestically toward the Houston Astros bullpen in deep right-center field. Some 393 feet later in the top of the ninth inning the Twins' prove-it-to-me rookie slugger had his first big-league grand slam and the Twins had completed their Labor Day comeback with eight unanswered runs in a 10-6 win over baseball's worst team. "I've never seen anybody with that kind of opposite-field power" said Twins catcher Chris Herrmann who was on first base at the time. "You see Miguel Cabrera with that type of power. That's the hardest place to hit it out and Chris hits it out with ease." That makes 30 homers this season for Colabello including 24 at Triple-A Rochester where he was named last week as the International League's most valuable player. Of those he estimates 20 have gone to center or right field including all six of his big-league clouts. He also went "oppo" in the fourth inning Monday crushing a 1-0 fastball from Astros starter Paul Clemens to start this comeback from an early 6-2 deficit. Moments earlier the left-handed hitting Herrmann flied to the warning track in left. "Not quite enough juice" the kid from nearby Tomball said. "I don't have the pop that Chris has. Maybe one day." Teammates have joked with Colabello about this wondering if the 29-year-old rookie will ever pull a ball over the wall again. Perhaps that's what he was trying to do these past couple of weeks when he fell into a 1-for-27 slump on either side of his third demotion since the season began.
