Minnesota Twins star catcher Joe Mauer is finally free of all symptoms of concussion says Chris Cwik of CBS Sports.com. Cwik cites MLB Network Radio as his source of information and says that Twins manager Ron Gardenhire confirmed the report. Gardenhire expects Mauer to report to Spring Training on time and fully recovered. Mauer’s season ended on August 19 because of a severe concussion. He ended up hitting .324/.404/.476 with 11 HR and 47 RBI in 113 games. He is a career .323 hitter with his best season coming in 2009 when he won the American League MVP award. Mauer hit .365 with 28 HR and 96 RBI that year and led the Twins to their first of two straight A.L. Central titles. For his career since becoming a full-time catcher in 2005, Mauer has an average WAR of 4.8 with a high of 7.8 in 2009.
