The Twins jumped on White Sox starter John Danks early and pulled out a 4-3 win at U.S. Cellular Field on Wednesday. Twins lefthander Diamond 6-11 faltered some late but can still feel good about his outing as he snapped a five-game losing streak that went back to June 20. Over 61/3 innings Diamond gave up three runs on five hits and two walks - enough for a quality start. He entered the seventh with just one earned run but gave up a two-out two-run single to Jordan Danks and was removed from the game. The Twins counted on Diamond to stabilize their bullpen this season but he got a late start while recovering from having bone chips removed from his elbow. Once healthy Diamond didn’t pitch like the man who went 12-9 for them last season. As the losses piled up he appeared to lose his confidence and was sent to Rochester after a rough Aug. 1 start against the Royals. The Twins were able to salvage one of the three games in the series giving manager Ron Gardenhire his 997th career win. The now head to Oakland to play the A.L. West-leading Athletics. Glen Perkins picked up his 36th save.
