As expected no further #NHL discipline regarding #Pens Cooke hit on #Bruins McQuaid. Cooke avaiable — Nick Kypreos (@RealKyper) June 2, 2013 Meh! Penguins forward Matt Cooke will escape supplemental discipline for his dirty hit on Boston Bruins defenseman Adam McQuaid.  I would suppose that the NHL Department of Players Safety put Cooke on double secret probation and any further bad behavior will result in him being suspended a game for two.

Mark Madden Rips Matt Cooke, Says ‘More Bad Comes From Having Matt Cooke Than Good’ (Video)

Matt Cooke isn’t very well liked around the hockey world and even the folks in Pittsburgh are growing tired of his act. After Cooke was tossed from Game 1 against the Bruins for hitting Adam McQuaid from behind, Bruins fans and media began calling for the NHL to rid of the Penguins’ goon once and for all. Pens fans and media, for the most part, backed Cooke, claiming McQuaid...

Matt Cooke Is Back To His Old Tricks

Throughout the course of his career, Matt Cooke has been notorious for dirty plays and dangerous cheap shots. Bruins fans know this all too well, as Cooke was the guy who essentially ended the career of Boston forward Marc Savard with a brutal elbow to the head that landed Savard with a level three concussion. And while many have lauded Cooke for his recent clean streak, the Penguins...

Matt Cooke gets a major and a game for boarding Adam McQuaid

Pittsburgh Penguins forward Matt Cooke received a major penalty, a 10-minute misconduct and a game misconduct for boarding Boston Bruins defenseman Adam McQuaid. As the CBC's Glenn Healy posited after the fact, McQuaid peeked over his shoulder, saw Cooke coming and chose to turn toward the boards to play the puck, but this is still textbook boarding-into-the-numbers and it'...

Penguins Puke Matt Cooke boards Boston Bruins defenseman Adam McQuaid

What a joke they gave this clown Pittsburgh Penguins forward Matt Cooke the Masterton Trophy. This guy has been suspended at least 31 games by the NHL for his acts of transgression. I think this hit deserves a game suspension for the NHL's department of Players safety. I actually think that Krug did his teammate a favor by slowing down Cooke, or this would have been even uglier...

Penguins Fan Kicked Out of Band After Tweeting That He Hopes Boston Gets Bombed Again

Some people take sporting events far too seriously. After Matt Cooke was ejected from the Bruins-Penguins game, a Pittsburgh fan went too far with his Boston hate on Twitter. Check out Jordan Kuruc‘s tweet below. Needless to say, Kuruc’s has received a constant stream of hate via Twitter since he sent out his stupid remark. The tweet has since been deleted, but not before Kuruc’s...

GIF: Side by side look at Cooke and Marchand's hits.

One of these hits is worth a five minute major and game misconduct, and the other is worth only two minutes: What's the difference? It appears the fact that McQuaid laid on the ice and pretended he was hurt, while James Neal got up. No absolving Matt Cooke here, but that hit is not a five-minute major. No word if Cooke will face suspension.

Matt Cooke Solidifies Himself as Pittsburgh’s Biggest Villain As Tempers Flare Between Bruins, Penguins (Video)

Jarome Iginla, you’re off the hook. While Bruins fans might have entered the Eastern Conference finals with an axe to grind regarding Iginla’s no-trade drama at this year’s deadline, Matt Cooke has firmly moved atop any list of most-hated opposing players. Already despised for his career-ending hit on Marc Savard, Cooke was up to no good once again in Game 1. His check from...

Matt Cooke and Brad Marchand deliver questionable hits in Game 1

Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals between the Pittsburgh Penguins and Boston Bruins got off to a bumpy start early in the second period.  Penguins forward Matt Cooke delivered this crushing hit to Bruins defenseman Adam McQuaid, hitting him right in the numbers.  Cooke was given a five-minute major and a game misconduct for the hit. Later in the period, Brad Marchand hit...

Jordan Kuruc's infamous tweet

Here is the tweet by Jordan Kuruc that went viral on twitter last night after Matt Cooke was kicked out of the game. It's evidence that you should have a breathalyzers or a stupidity meter attached to your twitter account before you send  a tweet out there into cyber space. The bad part is that this will be out there forever and when someone searches his name on the Internet...

Penguins Fan/Forbearance Lead Singer Makes Insensitive Boston Tweet

Lead singer of the rock band Forbearance, Jordan Kuruc, is an avid Penguins fan who wasn’t too pleased with Matt Cooke’s ejection from game 1. He took to Twitter to air his dirty laundry for the world to see, posting the following (now deleted) tweet: What an idiot. He immediately apologized via his Twitter page but his band mates still weren’t pleased with him. The group...

No disciplinary hearing for Matt Cooke

According to Haggs, Bruins Best Friend Matt Cooke won't be getting a phone call from Brendan Shanahan for his hit on Adam McQuaid. Not surprised. It was a garbage hit but didn't seem to fall into the realm of where the league would suspend someone -- even if it is Matt Cooke. Some of the Bruins didn't think Cooke's hit was deserving a suspension either...

The Big Leagues We’re only one step away from the biggest stage, and Matt Cooke is still laying down dirty hits.

Jack Edwards Says Bruins Are Much Better Team Than During Regular Season, Poised to Surprise Penguins (Audio)

The Penguins owned the Bruins during the regular season. But does that mean anything for the Eastern Conference final? Not according to Jack Edwards, who says the Bruins are a much, much better team than they were during the year’s first 48 games. Edwards phoned in for a Friday morning interview with WAAF to discuss the impending playoff series, and noted that Boston is playing...

Eastern Conference Finals Are Already Chippy

((HT: NHL on NBC/CBC)) There was no disputing that the Eastern Conference Finals between the Boston Bruins and the Pittsburgh Penguins was going to be a face-to-face situation where neither side was going to flinch. Evidence in that came in the form of the second period... Boarding penalties on Matt Cooke (on Adam McQuaid) and then, with 30 seconds left in the period, by...

Two Powerful Teams Ready To Faceoff In The East

from Joe Haggerty of CSNNE, The Bruins and Penguins locking up for their first conference final showdown in 20 years is an intriguing contrast because it pits strength (intense, punishing defensive team) vs. strength (high-powered, skilled offensive team), and will boast some of the most fascinating storylines in any playoff series. The B’s/Pens series will also include many...
