Found June 12, 2013 on Redlegs Review:
Your browser does not support iframes. Brandon Phillips was in a playful mood Wednesday afternoon after Todd Frazier belted a go-ahead home run during the seventh inning. Frazier's blast put the Reds in front, 2-1, at the time and proved to be the decisive blow as Cincinnati recorded its 12th straight victory at Wrigley Field. Frazier was immediately greeted in the dugout by all of his teammates after ripping the solo blast and even received an imitation of his batting stance from Phillips during the celebration. As you can see, Phillips was quite animated in his impersonation.

Partch is hero in 14-inning game

Putting in a picture of Broxton here because I don’t have one of Partch.Well, the Reds may have been unable to take their thirteenth consecutive win at Wrigley Field today, but how about that Curtis Partch, huh? He wasn’t so much his first time out, but tonight he soaked up four of the fourteen innings in that debacle against the Cubs. Even Mat Latos only pitched six. And they...

All-Star *yawn* voting

Remember this guy? This is a fella called Ryan Ludwick. He’s on the ASG ballot for the Reds. The Reds sent me an email this weekend to let me know that Joey Votto and Brandon Phillips are currently the leading All Star Game vote-getters in the NL for their positions. At that time, Votto had 1,569,477 votes. Who’s in second and how much does he trail by? The email didn’t go...

Reds' Johnny Cueto aiming for Sunday return

Cincinnati Reds ace Johnny Cueto is hoping to be back in action this Sunday. Cueto's 2013 campaign has had it's ups and downs thus far, as this is Cueto's second time on the disabled list this season. The first stint was April 15-May 19, when Cueto was sidelined with a strained right lat muscle.  This time, Cueto's injury is listed as a right-shoulder strain...

Reds look to change recent home skid

The Cincinnati Reds had the majors' best home record earlier this month. They've hardly been playing their best at Great American Ball Park since then. The Reds open a seven-game homestand Friday night against the improving Milwaukee Brewers, who could be without Ryan Braun again. After being denied a four-game sweep over the Chicago Cubs with Thursday's 6-5, 14-inning...

Cincinnati Reds: A family feud in left field

I hopped on a blog website a couple days ago, and one of the first posts I read was “Xavier Paul: Why is he still here?” Derrick Robinson might be one of the fastest guys on the Reds. His speed has helped turn many single hits, into doubles. Then, in the third game of the most recent series against the Cubs, he went 2-4 with a run, a double and  a homer that brought in three...

Latos Looks to Continue Strong Pitching in Chicago

The Cincinnati Reds have gotten back on track in their series against the Chicago Cubs, largely due to their performance on the mound. The Reds appear to have a good chance to continue that outstanding pitching and their lengthy winning streak at Wrigley Field with Mat Latos taking the ball in Thursday's finale.Mike Leake provided the latest strong outing Wednesday when he allowed...

Where do the 2013 draft picks fit in on the prospect lists?

Looking at where the new draft picks may slot in on the Cincinnati Reds prospect lists.

Reds 12, Cubs 2

Xavier Paul hit a three-run home run, Joey Votto added a two-run shot and the Cincinnati Reds roughed up Matt Garza and the Chicago Cubs 12-2 on Tuesday night. Tony Cingrani (3-0), filling in for the injured Johnny Cueto, pitched seven strong innings as Cincinnati extended its franchise-best winning streak at Wrigley Field to 11 games. Cingrani, from Chicago's South Suburbs...

Betancourt, Chapman, and the Sordid Business of Defection

(Image: AP/David J. Phillip) This weekend’s three-game series between the Reds and Brewers includes two players – Yuniesky Betancourt and Aroldis Chapman – who took a more tortured path than most to the big leagues.  Both are Cuban players who defected from their home country to play professionally in the United States. As someone of Cuban heritage, I’m particularly...

Phillips' 6 RBI lead Reds to win

Brandon Phillips hit a grand slam and matched his career high with six RBIs, and the Cincinnati Reds extended their dominance over the Chicago Cubs with a 6-2 win Monday night in foggy conditions at Wrigley Field. Phillips had an RBI single in the first, connected off Scott Feldman (5-5) in the third and an RBI groundout in the sixth for his fourth-career game of six RBIs. Across...

by: Dan Howard Staff Writer Welcome to the readers of The Mountain Citizen, a weekly paper located in Inez, Ky. They are scheduled to print my posts beginning in late June. I want to thank The Mountain Citizen Editor Gary Ball and their Sports Editor Ron Hickman for this opportunity. I guess the St. Louis Cardinals really are that good. I can’t understand how the Reds...
