This morning on ESPN’s College GameDay show, analyst David Pollack said “I’m probably going to put my foot in my mouth”, and then proceeded to do just that. When discussing Condoleezza Rice being added to the College Football Playoff Selection Committee, Pollack indicated that he didn’t think she was qualified, because she had never played football. Chris Fowler then connected the dots, and asked Pollack if he thought no women should be allowed on the committee, which Pollack acknowledged was true. Naturally, some very well-respected women in the college football landscape weren’t happy. First it was his own colleague: Verbally destroying @davidpollack47 on the bus for his comments about Condi. Next, he makes me a sandwich. — Sam Ponder (@samsteeleponder) October 5, 2013 For those asking, I’m glad @davidpollack47 gave his honest opinion. I respect his right to be wrong. — Sam Ponder (@samsteeleponder) October 5, 2013 Then, former ESPN employee Erin Andrews, now with FOX Sports 1, fired back at Pollack with an “I’m a female, thanks for having me” comment during FS1′s Saturday preview show. Here’s video, courtesy of Clay Travis: Then, Bonnie Bernstein, formerly of ESPN and now with Campus Insiders, expressed her displeasure: .@davidpollack47 Hearing you don’t think women should be on CFB Playoff Selection Comm bc they didn’t play. You & I should chat… — Bonnie Bernstein (@BonnieBernstein) October 5, 2013 He’s going to continue to get hammered for this one.
