If you’ve been following here at College Spun, you know we absolutely love Notre Dame’s Louis Nix III. Nix is a breath of fresh air in a college football world where we are always hearing about suspensions, NCAA violations, injuries, and more — he’s always looking to stay positive and keep fans entertained. As Notre Dame got its fall camp underway this weekend, Nix checked in at a whopping 357 pounds — the massive defensive tackle dominates the line of scrimmage and is widely considered to be a first round prospect for the 2014 NFL Draft. But if you ask Nix, not only is he big and strong, but fast — or at least fast enough. In an interview with Irish Illustrated, Nix said “I can beat Coach Kelly in a race,” but then expressed that it wouldn’t be fair, because Kelly is an old guy. Here’s video of the interview — it’s all great stuff, but the particularly fun moment begins around the 55-second mark: Can we get this race to happen? That would be absolutely amazing to watch. Fans — who are you taking?
