PLAYERS: Jonas Hiller
TEAMS: Anaheim Ducks
As hockey fans most of us have also have love of a particular AWARD WINNING EA Sports Franchise. This year, the boys and girls in charge of the NHL series we all are addicted to have taken a page out of the Madden NFL playbook and are enlisting the fans to elect their cover athlete!   As some of you know, I’m a diehard Blackhawks fan, but seeing as the ‘Hawks can boast the only back to back cover athletes in EA Sports history, I figure it’s time to elect someone from a different team.   This year I, Dr. Jekyll, support Jonas Hiller for NHL13 cover athlete. Jonas is awesome, and one of the only reasons the Ducks aren’t in the running for the #1 pick in this year’s NHL Draft. Voting for Jonas Hiller also comes with the added bonus of Katey Berman’s displeasure, which is as good a perk as any.   Click here to view the embedded video.     Vote Jonas Hiller. Piss off Katey Berman.   var conf_38247 = { APIKey: '2_N1YlfjHIEAtyRAK3CAYRE5a1aBuANuMOCLc_7hsOQ13HnwCrW_u-6OuDhjC7vR06...

Lame Ducks and a case for five

Last night, Teemu Selanne scored his 66th career goal against the Sharks, in the 6th meeting this season.  That’s three sixes.  Lordy. Jonas Hiller described the performance of the Ducks lately: “Everybody is really motivated and we didn’t want to eliminate ourselves. We are still trying to play good hockey. We don’t want to just give up. That is what we did tonight, and...

Ducks going out as spoilers

His team's final microscopic chance to make the playoffs was vanquished Wednesday night, but Ducks coach Bruce Boudreau plans to put his best lineup on the ice in an attempt to win each of the five remaining games. The Ducks defeated San Jose 3-1 Wednesday, and they still have two other playoff contenders, Phoenix and Calgary, on their docket. Boudreau feels that he owes it...

Steve Palumbo: Ducks Down Sharks but are Officially Eliminated from Playoffs

They say when it's your time to go, it's your time to go. It took until game 77 of 82 for the Anaheim Ducks to officially be eliminated from the NHL playoffs. Even a 3-1 win over the San Jose Sharks couldn't keep them on life support. Teemu Selanne scored the 106th game-winning goal of his career, Jonas Hiller made 28 saves, and the Ducks decked San Jose in the mouth...

Some years you dominate a team.  Other years they dominate you.  This year, it was the Ducks turn to dominate the Sharks.  (Just don't mention Nashville to Anaheim.)In the season series of six games between Anaheim and San Jose, the Ducks took five of them, losing only one to their Pacific Division rival.  If only they could have played like that against more teams. If only...

Hiller Nominated for Masterton; Ellis Well

The Anaheim Ducks are not lacking in past winners of the Masterton Memorial Trophy.  Teemu Selanne, Jason Blake and Saku Koivu have all won the award in the past.  The award is presented annually to the NHL player who best exemplifies the qualities of perseverance, sportsmanship and dedication to hockey. There is one nominee per team each year.  This year, the Ducks nominee...

Oilers-Ducks Preview

It's safe to say that Teemu Selanne will get the biggest cheers during the Anaheim Ducks' home finale Sunday night. Selanne has not yet committed to returning for the 2012-13 season as he takes the ice at home for the final time this season when the Ducks meet the Edmonton Oilers. The veteran winger will turn 42 in July but continues to be productive, leading Anaheim (33...
