The WSU women's golf team completed its first round of play at the Wildcat Invitational Sunday. The Cougars carded a 309 (+21) and are in 9th place.
KENNEWICK -- Washington State quarterback Connor Halliday, who came on strong late in the 2011 season before going down with a lacerated liver injury, is progressing nicely in his recovery. WSU's new director of football operations, asked Friday about the sophomore-to-be, shied from going into detail but offered clues to Halliday's outlook for spring ball, which starts March 22.
KENNEWICK -- Washington State Athletic Director Bill Moos told a crowd of more than 300 Cougar fans on Friday that while he was a fairly good student when he was in college it wasn’t until very recently that he received his highest mark. “My first A+ was from Sports Illustrated,” Moos said. “(They) gave it to me for bringing Mike Leach to WSU.”

This might have been the year, but Washington State’s turnover problems and second-half scoring drought was too much to overcome as UCLA extended its win streak to 19 against the Cougars at Friel Court with a 63-60 victory Saturday. It also marked WSU’s first setback of the season in front of 4,204 fans in Pullman.

Mercedes Young and Kristine Felix have signed National Letters of Intent to attend and compete in track and field for Washington State University starting in the fall of 2012, Cougar Head Coach Rick Sloan announced Monday.
