The Boston College baseball team was ranked 17th by ESPN in their Power Rankings, released on Tuesday. The Eagles were also named the "Off-Radar Team of the Weekend" for their sweep in the Caravelle Resort Tournament, beating No. 17 Virginia, James Madison and No. 35 Coastal Carolina.

Boston College star shortstop Anthony Melchionda picked up the first ACC Player of the Week award for his outstanding play this weekend. In helping the Eagles go a perfect 3-0, Anthony went 6 for 14, with a home run and 3 doubles. He scored 3 runs, knocked in 6 and walked once. Anthony hit .259, with 1 home run and 5 rbi's for the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox this past summer.

Softball. Softball Heads to 49ers Invitational in Charlotte, N.C.

The Boston College softball team heads to Charlotte, N.C. for the 49ers Invitational from Friday, Feb. 24 to Sunday, Feb. 26. The Eagles (4-1) are off to their best start in 10 seasons through the first five games and will meet Morgan State, Charlotte and Towson at the tournament.
