While everyone in America was watching Colin Kaepernick and the 49ers run all over the Green Bay Packers, a second beat down was taking place in a different Northern California city. The Future Seattle SuperSonics Sacramento Kings played host to the defending NBA champion Miami Heat, and the game went exactly as you’d expect — to be fair, as of this writing, Miami still only has a 30-point lead early in the fourth quarter. The highlight of the night came in the first quarter, when Dwyane Wade and LeBron James did Wade and Lebron-like things, ending a fast break with a ridiculous reverse alley-oop, where the ball (and LeBron) seemed to hang in the air for an eternity. And speaking of eternity, we could watch these things over and over again until the end of time.

LeBron James and Dwyane Wade transcended basketball and used their celebrity in the most positive light on Thursday night. Thinking it was a longshot, Nicole Peterson posted on LeBron James’ Facebook page on Wednesday night asking the superstar if he could grant her friend, Joey Anderson, a dying wish. The Miami Heat are the reigning NBA champions. And, in case anyone is wondering, they’re also the champions of getting the most criticism — because, you know, that’s also worth keeping score on.
The need to clarify this came up in the midst of Los Angeles’ recent slide. The Lakers have been getting plenty of negative attention lately for how poorly they’ve been playing...
