Adam Wainwright won his 15th game putting him alone atop the National League as the Cardinals beat the Braves 3-1 on Friday night. Wainwright struck out nine and allowed just six hits in a complete game improving to 15-7. He also moved into third on the Cardinals' all-time strikeout list passing Chris Carpenter (1085) and trailing just Bob Gibson (3117) and Dizzy Dean (1095). Wainwright is at 1090 meaning he could easily be No. 2 after his next start. It was his fifth complete-game of the season tying his career high for a season and his 16th career complete game. Braves starter Kris Medlen was dominating for a long stretch of the game but two doubles just inside first base in the second and a blast into the left-field bleachers in the sixth were his undoing.
