The great thing about the NFL is that there are so many positions that every year, there is almost always at least one player who has a breakout year on every team, no matter how good or bad the team is. This is one part in a 32 part segment detailing one potential breakout player for the 2012 NFL season on each NFL team. For the Washington Redskins, that player is middle linebacker Perry Riley. Midway through last season, the Redskins made a switch at middle linebacker next to London Fletcher, substituting the then inexperienced Perry Riley, a 2010 4th round pick, for the struggling Rocky McIntosh and then may have discovered their long term successor for London Fletcher, who is heading into his age 37 season. McIntosh, through 8 games, had just 42 solo tackles, 10 assists, 7 missed tackles, and 20 stops. Riley, however, in their next 8 games, had 42 solo tackles, 16 assists, 7 missed tackles, and 34 stops. If he played all 16 games and maintained his rates, he would have had 84 so...

Redskins' RG3 shows inexperience , Brian Orakpo, Brandon Meriweather injured

After showing Washington Redskins fans last week that he can make plays and find open receivers, Robert Griffin III was bound to have a game where he looked like a rookie. That happened Saturday night against the Chicago Bears. With Griffin under center for six first-half drives the Redskins scored just three points with five first downs. He was sacked three times for a loss of...

Could Kirk Cousins have a shot as the starting QB?

Week 2 of the NFL Preseason has passed and for the Washington Redskins it was a roller coster ride of a game as they lost to the Chicago Bears by a score of 33-31. The big story of the game no doubt was the superb play of rookie QB Kirk Cousins in the second half. [...]

Redskins Selling T-Shirt Commemorating Andrew Luck-Robert Griffin III Preseason Showdown (Photo)

Daniel Snyder and the Washington Redskins are notoriously big spenders. You have to generate revenue somehow. Apparently the Skins are running out of ideas to generate that revenue, as Washington is now selling commemorative T-shirts for a preseason game. That's because the Redskins are getting ready for the preseason game to (hopefully) end all preseason games -- the granddaddy...

Washington Redskins: Players To Hug And Slug

For as long as I can remember, I have always been a Washington Redskins fan and always will be. It has been difficult over the past few decades watching them lose close games like throwing an interception while driving down the field to win the game or missing a field goal in the final seconds that would have had FedEx Field in an uproar. We have also had our moments of glory as...

Redskins selling Griffin-Luck rivalry T-shirt

It’s not often that there’s a large amount of hype surrounding a preseason contest. This year, however, there’s one exception — Colts vs. Redskins. Andrew Luck vs. Robert Griffin III; No. 1 overall pick vs. No. 2 overall pick. Battle of the highly-touted quarterbacks. You get the picture. Both teams will meet at FedEx Field on August 25, and the home team is doing their best...
