It is rare that artists let us into their creative process to making an album. It is something that should happen more often. Thanks to the people over at Thump let us into Pretty Lights’ making of his next album A Color Map of the Sun. The album sounds like its going to contain an assortment of sounds. In the documentary he experiments with many different instruments such as  the inner workings of a music box and a trumpet violin in Brooklyn. He also recorded the rich musical sounds of New Orleans. You can tell that Pretty Lights’ has a real appreciation for all types of music. It certainly shines through in his music. A Color Map of the Sun will be available July 2 for free download. You can listen to the first single “Around the Block” featuring Talib Kweli with the video below.
