Found March 31, 2013 on Thunder The Influence:
I'll be honest. The Madness got the best of me. Who could pass up on some of the match-ups this past weekend? While the Thunder are getting down to the nitty-gritty of their final push for the top seed, they didn't do too much to alarm me. However, here's a few things I'll say about Oklahoma City's weekend. First off, I watch a lot of basketball. It did not surprise me to see Nikola Pekovic went off on the Thunder for 22 points and 15 rebounds. It should, also, not be a big shocker to see Rubio do some damage against a weak Thunder front court. Minnesota is not a team the Thunder will have to see in the playoffs, which should be good news for Thunder fans. The T'Wolves have done well against the Thunder recently, but their season has not gone as planned with Kevin Love sidelined for most of it. The big thing for the Thunder to take away from this loss is that they are beatable. No games are given in the West. And some teams fare better match-up wise against OKC's rotation. Minnesota is one of them. They played great defense in the second half, and were able to hold off Kevin Durant from doing Kevin Durant-like things. The Thunder moved on with a win the very next night in Milwaukee. Barring season-ending injuries to everyone outside of Milwaukee in the East, the Bucks are another team they won't see in the playoffs. Regardless, the Thunder were happy to get out with a win. This one was tied 83-83 heading in to the final quarter, but Oklahoma City, fueled by a 30-point night by Durant, outscored the Bucks 26-16 in the fourth. Now Oklahoma City gets a nice break, and do not play until a Thursday night nationally-televised game against the top-seed Spurs. Thanks to a last-second Chris Bosh three (no typo there), San Antonio dropped one to the Miami Heat at the AT&T Center, who did not have LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, or Mario Chalmers. The loss stings for a Spurs squad clinging on to the top spot. Things do not get easier, though. Before Thursday, San Antonio faces the Memphis Grizzlies tomorrow night and the Orlando Magic Wednesday. With so much basketball, it would not be shocking to see the Spurs rest their starters Thursday. However, if the top spot is on the line, Duncan and Parker have no choice but to give it a go. Manu Ginobili will not be available for San Antonio, however. Coach Popovich reported he would be out for a few weeks, which is not good news for the Spurs depth at the guard position. Anyway, Oklahoma City gets a few days off. Check back for more this week as I possibly attempt to get back in to podcasting.

Recap: Pekovic, Wolves shred defenseless Celtics

For the first time since they gave us Kevin Garnett, the Minnesota Timberwolves have beaten the Celtics.  They did it by feeding Nikola Pekovic early and often, and then feasting on the Celtics mistakes.  Wolves take it 110-100. The Celtics kept nipping and tucking and making it feel like they had a shot, but every time they got close, the Wolves would whip off another run to put...
