WE'RE PREDICTED TO TAKE A DEFENSIVE TACKLE?????

Posted February 09, 2013

DANIEL Jeremiah put out his second mock draft last night, and on it he has us taking a Defensive Tackle. A DEFENSIVE TACKLE!

As if that wasn't bad enough he then said the guy we'd go after would be Sharrif Floyd. So if we DO go DT, we're supposed to pass up the #1 rated DT on EVERYBODY'S board (Star Lotulelei) and go get a smaller guy (6'3 303), when everything about our roster and system says BIG DT. Worse yet, we're supposed to just let Lotulelei just drop to the team drafting behind us!

Now I don't think we should grab a DT, but if we DO, we'll smart enough to pick up the guy that scouts compare to Haloti Ngata

over the guy who scouts compare to Muhammad Wilkerson http://www.nfl.com/draft/2013/profiles/sharrif-floyd?id=2540150 .

It's one thing to think a team may have a bad draft, but to publicly say that we would blow it THIS bad is just plain disrespectful.

  • I was talking about the Raiders.
  • He'd not only be replacing Seymour, but Tommy Kelly (rumored to be leaving) as well.

That means that Dez Bryant would now be a STARTER not a fill-in. He's cool as a fill-in but I'm not sure I trust him for 16 games.

If we lose BOTH DT's then picking T'eo would NOT make sense, unless we were going to grab another big body LATER to team with Bryant. Maybe JOHN JENKINS (6'4 359) out of Georgia in the 2nd, or even his teammate KWAME GEATHERS (6'5 355) in the 4th or 5th.

Geathers might be a good pick-up for the Eagles actually. One of those under the radar types, that turns out to make a bigger impact than anyone anticipated. Like the undrafted Tony Siragusa did.
  • We'll see how Geathers does in the Combine. If he moves up, the there's no reason we can't gram HIM in the 2nd. We'd use either guy (Jenkins or Geathers) the same way anyway: Crush the A-gap, and draw the double-team to keep the MLB's jersey clean so he can fly around and make tackles vs. the run, and also let the DE's get those one-on-one match-ups on the edges so the 4 man rush can get there.

There's a couple more guys that would fit that bill that we could grab in the 2nd round and lower, so I'm not really stoked about taking a DT too early. Other positions we need aren't as deep, and with the limited things we ask for DT's to do, we can wait on one. Like a Guard, you want strong and quick. As long as we can swing those two qualities, we're golden.
  • stop posting raiders stuff in eagles forums....
