NEW ORLEANS - NOVEMBER 30: Quarterback Tom Brady #12 of the New England Patriots celebrates after Laurence Maroney scored a 2-yard rushing touchdown in the third quarter against the New Orleans Saints at Louisana Superdome on November 30, 2009 in New Orleans, Louisiana. During the Patriots win over the Bills on Sunday, Tom Brady did something he rarely ever does — rushed for a touchdown. Brady’s knee touched the ground at almost the exact same time the ball crossed the plane, so the play was automatically reviewed as a scoring play. When the officials announced that the touchdown stood as called on the field, CBS showed Brady on the sidelines with an angry look on his face saying “F*** you, bi***es.”

Naturally, there has been all kinds of speculation about why the NFL’s golden boy would use such naughty language. Was the comment directed toward the Bills fans who put this billboard up in Brady’s honor and were now booing the call? The refs? The Bills players? Neither, according to Wes Welker.

“I think it was kind of directed at, towards me and Deion (Branch) a little bit,” Welker said Tuesday on WEEI’s Mut and Merloni Show, according to Boston.com. “We were giving him a hard time that his knee was down and we didn’t know what he was doing on the bench over there. He better get his butt up and get back out on the field because his knee was down and so he’s like, ‘what are you talking about, I was in.’ So I think they caught him at a perfect moment where we were just kind of just jawing back and forth and things like that.”

Based on Welker’s reaction, that actually makes perfect sense. Brady definitely turned toward Wes and said it and Welker’s nervous laugh made it seem like he couldn’t tell if Brady was joking or actually mad. Brady’s a known competitor, so it’s not surprising to see him react like that — even if he was telling his own teammates off.
