Indiana Pacers power forward David West wants to get on the court with his teammates for tonight's preseason finale at Chicago. But he also wants to be prepared to play.
BEST OF MAXIM
Apparently the decision David West made to choose the Pacers over the Celtics really rubbed Ray Allen the wrong way. For a while, it appeared that Danny Ainge had a deal in place that would send Jermaine O’Neal back to the Pacers for David West by way of a sign-and-trade. The deal fell apart and West chose to sign with Indiana for two years, $20 million rather than the Celtics...
TAKE THE MONEY
David West was all set to join the Celtics, but instead he decided to sign with the Pacers for more money. Ray Allen sounded off on the decision.
Here's a snippet from yesterday's great article by Jackie MacMullan on ESPNBoston:
Count veteran Ray Allen among those who can't believe West chose Indiana over Boston with such a slim difference in compensation.
"I'm shocked," Allen said. "I don't understand it."
West was a two-time All-Star for the Hornets, the first during the '08...
I've said it before and I'll say it again. Coming to Boston for a discounted price just to have a better opportunity to win a championship doesn't carry the same weight that it used to.
See Exhibit A: David West. The Hornets and Celtics were all set to complete a sign-and-trade that would have brought West to Boston for three years at just under $10 million per season...
David West is a Pacer, a big pickup for an Indiana team that barely scrapped into the playoffs last year. They picked up an All-Star power forward who is as good a pick-and-pop big as there is in the game. But West was almost a Celtic and would have been key to their run at…
A few weeks ago, the Celtics beat out several suitors for two-time All-Star David West. Then, the sign-and-trade plans with the NBA-owned Hornets didn't work out, and West took more money to join the young and improving Indiana Pacers. So, if you're keeping score, he chose a good team, albeit one with a worse shot at a championship, in part because they could offer him a...
Instead of choosing Boston's Big Three to team up with this season, David West has decided partner with Darren Collison, Danny Granger, and Roy Hibbert out in Indiana. The Celtics trio may be aging, but they still have as good a chance as anybody at this point to cash one more title in before they all bid the NBA their final farewell. They'd have had a better chance with...
With the addition of David West, Indiana will be better -- but the Nuggets and Hornets may struggle.
For the first time in six years, the Hornets must figure out how to win without Chris Paul or David West.
Hornets forward Carl Landry says he's sure a lot of people are counting New Orleans out, but he believes the team will be competitive under second-year head coach Monty Williams.
Landry will start now that West has left for Indiana in free agency. New Orleans' lineup...

With forwards like Carl Landry, Glen Davis, David West and Jeff Green getting big contracts a big question is why hasn’t anyone signed Kris Humphries?

Chris Paul joining the Clippers through a trade isn't the only player to switch clubs and there could be more to come in the days ahead.David West traveled north by northeast, signing with Indiana after eight seasons in New Orleans.
