Throughout the pre-season, New York Ranger writers and fans have turned their attention to youngsters Matt Gilroy, Michael Del Zotto, Artem Anisimov, Evgeny Grachev, Chad Johnson and Enver Lisin. These players have stood out because they’re getting the job done, have shown a lot of poise and are making it extremely difficult on both coach Tortorella and the rest of Rangers’ management to cut them. Lost in all of this is another Rangers’ youngster is desperately trying to make the team - Bobby Sanguinetti. The 21-year-old defenseman, drafted 21st overall in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft, has had trouble impressing that powers that be due to the impressive play of defensemen Gilroy and Del Zotto. While having a solid year with the Hartford Wolf Pack of the AHL last season, Sanguinetti has had trouble putting it together for the Blueshirts both in training camp and in pre-season games. While he has made some decent plays, he’s also looked tentative with the puck, a bit unsure of himself and has had a bit of trouble adjusting to the quickness of NHL-play.
