Seed: For the upcoming 2014 NCAA Tournament, the Stanford Cardinal was given a 10-seed in the South-region. Stanford is coached by Johnny Dawkins and hails from the Pac-12. You can view the entire 2014 NCAA Tournament field here in our official bracket. Where: They will open play against New Mexico in St. Louis on Friday.  Why: Stanford finished with a 10-8 record in the Pac-12, winding up in a five-way tie for third place with Oregon, Colorado, Arizona State and California. The Cardinal scored notable victories over UConn, Oregon, Arizona State (twice) and UCLA. Ceiling: Stanford isn’t exactly playing its best basketball of the season, but the Cardinal did win its first two games in the Pac-12 Tournament before bowing out to eventual winner UCLA. While a deep run in the NCAAs is unlikely, the Cardinal could surprise during the first weekend. Its balanced scoring attack (Randle, Powell, Brown and Huestis all over 11 points per game) makes one or two victories possible.
