Found November 07, 2011 on Matthew Cerrone's Mets Blog:
According to Ken Rosenthal of FoxSports.com, a Marlins contingent (including owner Jeffrey Loria) will visit Cuban OF Yoenis Cespedes in the Dominican later this week. The 26-year-old Cespedes defected last summer and, according to Jeff Passan of Yahoo! Sports, is expected soon to be cleared for free agency. Here is a video of Cespedes (actual baseball starts at the 3:20 mark): Matthew Cerrone: OH. MY! That is the craziest, most ridiculous, egotistical, most intriguing scouting video I have ever seen. The way he watches his home runs is enough to justify signing him. Though, I do have to question his camp’s taste in music. Sailing, by Christopher Cross? Really? Anyway, the kid can hit, that’s clear. I have not heard much about him, nor have I heard teams actually talk about him a realistic way… perhaps that will start to change after this video gets around. I mean, the Star Wars intro alone is bound to pique someone’s interest… Passan says the player’s agents are pitching him as...

Rosenthal On Butler, Sizemore, Orioles

The latest from Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports... The Phillies have serious interest in free agent Michael Cuddyer, although Rosenthal is skeptical of them adding a player who turns 33 in March.  Rosenthal says other left fielders are in the mix, but none are ideal.  One player Rosenthal did not mention is Josh Willingham, who I can see the Phillies considering.  As for a...

Significant Progress In CBA Talks

Baseball's owners and players made "significant progress" toward a new collective bargaining agreement today, according to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports (on Twitter). The current CBA expires in December, but completing a new deal before then would facilitate offseason decisions for teams by providing them with knowledge about the game's structure going forward. ...

Jonathan Papelbon 'Probably' Won't Get Mariano Rivera Money, Says Ken Rosenthal

Jonathan Papelbon has been compared to Mariano Rivera a lot lately, and rightfully so. As Fox Sports' Ken Rosenthal points out, In Papelbon's first six seasons (2006-11), he bagged 219 saves while Rivera -- in his first six seasons (1996-01) with the Yankees -- closed out 215 games despite serving as John Wetteland's set-up man in '96. But the similarities don'...

Incremental Addition

Ken Rosenthal criticizes the Phillies potential signing of Michael Cuddyer based on age. If the Phils add Cuddyer and re-sign free-agent shortstop Jimmy Rollins, right fielder Hunter Pence and left fielder John Mayberry would be their only regulars under 30 on Opening Day — and Mayberry could return to the bench once Howard, 31, recovered from his injury. Nothing against...
